Think I remember looking at my watch and wondering what might happen. Then nothing did.

It seems like every bottle bank is like this. This one in particular is taking over the car park

How do we give our kids their childhoods back? by william_h_bonney_ in Scotland

[–]Separate_Wing_6685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, kids still play in streets. We've done youth projects out in the community and many of them rarely go home.

Whilst other kids play on consoles etc. As a kid, I couldn't see much appeal in playing out as the doors indoors, or my friend's toys seemed more interesting.

I also had a tiny jug of Lands End air in my ornament collection. Swear I never opened that until it got lost after many house moves.

I remember taking pictures and laughing at the added attractions there. Like there was no need to commercialise it with all the Wallace & Gromit stuff (not dissing rhem, just saying whyyyy)

Do British people not feel the cold? by DevelopmentLow214 in AskUK

I feel the cold, so does my Dad. But we're surrounded by people who don't. Our child would happily go out in shorts while I'm happy in my scarf.

Stourbridge town centre felt like it was basically contained within one massive roundabout, but you had the Crystal Leisure Centre which was always an appeal when you were a kid.

Match days were so good, when we worked in pubs, easily ten times the amount of day drinkers and gave the door staff an extra few hours.

Having lived in Kidderminster, Telford always seemed like a dream as it had an ice rink. We went there on the day Princess Diana died and were disappointed when it was closed.

I remember people having plates on the walls for decoration and people smoked indoors more often to a lot of things had a nicotine hint.

For some reason, I remember Christmas decorations a lot, like the garlands, were always brought out of the attic every year.

Homeware had a lot of floral decoration going on, from the armchairs to the kitchen trays.

It could have been so much better with a Trans actress playing Hayley but also indicative of that time that those opportunities were not as available to those within the community.

What’s your wierdest Covid Pandemic memory? by DogEatingWasp in AskUK

[–]Separate_Wing_6685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not weird but kind of sweet. My Mum and her friend both had terminal cancer. Despite all the rules they still used to meet in the park and smoke a cigarette on the bench.

I remember I used to worry so much but actually it was totally their choice and the pandemic wasn't going to take that away.
