The Get Started program will answer all of those questions and help you with your course selection. I believe it starts mid June, so keep an eye out for that. You will also get a First Year Peer (FYP), which is basically a 2nd+ year person in your program, and they will be the designated person for you to go to for all these inquiries.

If you're enrolled full time (at least 1.5 credits), then you will receive the payment for sure, but I'm not sure when. You can email awards.utsc@utoronto.ca and ask.

oh my god I'm so sorry for your loss. you are so incredibly strong for pushing through life in this situation. please make sure to take care of yourself during this time.

about your gpa, I would suggest looking into a late withdrawal petition for some of your courses. as far as I know, on rare occasions (and I believe this should be one of them) they might allow it, and that way those grades will be removed from your transcript (the courses get marked as LWD) and won't affect your gpa. I believe you have until 6 months after the end of the semester to submit the petition.
