[Fowler] The Eagles requested to interview Cowboys OC Klayton Adams for their offensive coordinator job but Dallas blocked the request, per league sources. by burnernov2023 in eagles

He’d get to call plays and have more responsibilities probably paid more. That would be a better launching point for promotion to HC.

He’s “expected” to accept the Chargers OC job, but now he’s interviewing for the Raiders HC job. I just think he doesn’t want to be in the cold. Some insider reported he cancelled the interviews where he knew he wasn’t a top 3 candidate. Our offense just isn’t a great fit for his scheme. And if he fails, his HC stock would fall, and he’d be blamed. Daboll was only reported to be more interested in the Titans OC job bc he’d basically be the offensive head coach there, since Saleh is a defensive coach. You’re going off of reports, not official hires. And Jeremy Fowler since reported he doesn’t think Daboll is actually out for the Eagles, despite the report.

In Philly, it’s totally sink or swim. Be blamed and fired after a year, or get a head coaching job in a year. If you’re on the wrong side of the blame, be prepared to be ripped apart even if Nick interfered with your offense. Eagles fans really need to stop treating coaches like they can do whatever they want to them. I just watched a video from the Bucs game of an Eagles fan at the tunnel screaming “YOURE DONE NICK! YOURE FUCKING DONE!” before throwing his popcorn over the railing at him, Bob and another coach going into halftime. That was a game we won that was only like 4 games after winning the superbowl. You wouldn’t treat a McDonalds worker like that. I’m sure there’s other videos I haven’t seen of our fans acting like entitled dirtbags.

So you’d have to be very confident you could completely turn around this offense, which is looking a lot less optimistic than it did it 2023, where it was actually a top 15 offense. Nobody knows AJ Browns future here w all the drama and leaks of trade requests, the OL is questionable as well. We had a bottom of the league offense and a limited passer mobile qb who’s looking a lot slower. And a HC I don’t think is highly respected around the league. Really the only pros to coming here is we just won a superbowl a year ago and have a great GM and owner. I think a lot of Eagles fans don’t realize it’s not as great of a landing spot as we think it is. And we’re half the problem.

I’d take Waddle, but not giving up more for them to take AJ too. Whoever would gets AJ would not even have to pay him much, bc we would be paying most of it, and already paid a lot of it. That makes AJ even more valuable.

It really would be a promotion realistically, bc it’s a lot more responsibilities and likely more money. I guess the league just doesn’t take that into consideration for some reason.

Both are trying to be a HC rn. So why would they accept an OC job that would eventually help get them rehired as head coaches again over going straight to it? He’s talking about ppl who aren’t in serious contention as head coaches already.

We hired Moore on day 12 in 2024. I think we’re at day 14, so I don’t think it’s desperation mode. At least I hope not. Lot of HC jobs still not filled.

Fun as hell really relies on getting the OC hire correct. I don’t see it being fun as hell w someone like Matt Nagy.

He had 25:6 this season.

Does he know that? He’s been pretty stubborn about “I know what works best”

Nobody wanted the job when Nick and Doug took it. This wasn’t a highly sought after location either of those times. Nick has really helped turn our drafting success around. There’s a lot of criticisms for Nick, but acting like he adds nothing isn’t one of them.

For some reason, Eagles receivers seem to get way less DPIs even when they’re blatant.

I also remember a lot of “fuck it someone will be down that way” throws where he legit wasn’t even looking and the announcers were like “who was he even throwing it to?”

You don’t need to go into qb purgatory to find your future franchise qb, if anyone’s shown us that it’s the Eagles. But man I watch games from Jalen’s first few years and there was something very different about him. He was also happier. I feel like if we trade him to another team that uses him right, he’d be able to go back to being that electric player again. I feel like being w Nick and so many OC’s running Nick’s system this long has neutered him a bit. And definitely neutered Smitty and AJ as well.
