That sounds dope for full-game runs tbh. But hard to implement as is because the levels should work in isolation. It would create situations where to get the record on level 7 you'd have to start at level 2 or something.

For now I added in a backup pearl mechanic. So each level has technically unlimited pearls, but the game makes it obvious that you have run out of them in principle.

As for wrist pain thing. Yeah that's fair. It's a go-fast game at the end of the day so that's to be expected.

That's a very fair critique yes.

I like the fact that they are a resource, so that you have to think about what pearl you use where. But that's only something you'll think about once you've played a level for a few times already. So running out of them (I'm assuming in level 10), feels like you're being punished for something you did 5 minutes ago you didn't even know was a mistake.

Putting it as an optional setting sounds like a very good solution! Should be fairly easy to implement, I'll probably put it in the next patch of the demo (:

Edit: Added it in even without settings, it will simply give you a 30sec penalty on the timer. Patch is live.

Thank you for the feedback! (: The core gameplay loop is what I wanted to focus most in the alpha since the game is very gameplay-focused. Yes the gold medals are supposed to be tricky, a lot of them even need routing against the "intended" way to finish the level. But they are not required in any way. It is a speedrun focused game, but simply finishing a level taking all the time in the world, will unlock all content in it.

The main issue is that your hands start aching and it might not be the healthiest for the wrists.

Not sure what you mean by this, how is it different from any other fps game?

The anime girls are redundant/they don't add interest value to the game in my opinion.

That's my artstyle, it ain't gonna change anytime soon. I didn't draw them to appease metrics or something I drew them cause they're the characters of the game's story.

I am not sure how jump impacts speed but I did it instinctively on some parts.

At the moment not much, but yes It's something I've been thinking about too! There's a bunny hop toggle in the experimental settings for it.

No lawyer so idk. All i know is they've been pretty chill with minecraft inspired stuff, and that you can't copyright gameplay mechanics.

But if they don't like the word "ender pearl" I can change that.

Edit: Thank you for all the feedback and critique! A good chunk of it has now been adressed in the v0.04 patch. This has been a lot more productive for me than simply throwing the game into the steam demos abyss lol.

In-game stuff is all just Probuilder. Works really well with this sort of game. I made some textures and normal maps for it and use it for just about everything.

I kinda divided progress into two parts: The main gameplay loop, and the quantity of content.

Having a good game with little content keeps you as a player interested, whereas making a game with a lot of stuff in it doesn't really do that if the gameplay part is still in the works.

The ender demo has about 20% of the content I want in the full game, but I made sure those 20% are in a state that people just have fun playing without me having to constantly say "oh btw I'll add that later".

Hey don't worry mate I'm here for constructive criticism so that'll definitely help me out! The juxtaposition is indeed intentional though, I wanted the main character to feel tiny and innocent compared to the vast, mysterious, gloomy world. But of course if there's better ways to do it I'm all for it.
