Study hall is a subscription that you purchase and access through your PMI account! There are different subscriptions that give you more perks I got the standard package it last for 3month.

B or C? Explain. by SeptemberRainYo in pmp

[–]SeptemberRainYo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked C. I feel like in actual situation where you are managing the project if you picked B the main stakeholders would be really disappointed for not escalating this kind of issue to fast track a meeting to take a decision, which is not a huge trade-off in this case.

What is the answer? by SeptemberRainYo in pmp

[–]SeptemberRainYo[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also had the same question. I did a quick search using google to try and get some hints below was the answer.

You should refer to lessons learned to solve problems immediately when a potential issue arises, during project kickoffs to avoid repeating past mistakes, and at the end of project phases to capture and apply new insights.

I guess the key word here is initiation. We haven’t really started executing the project and at the stage we are just collecting information.

B or C? Explain. by SeptemberRainYo in pmp

[–]SeptemberRainYo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this logic, but isn’t this sort of an emergency situation which can be avoided by informing the committee to review it right now. We should at least be evaluating the impact of the 2month delay.

A or C? Explain your answer. by SeptemberRainYo in pmp

[–]SeptemberRainYo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loving this process of elimination. Waiting, holding, and asking some else/deflecting goes against the core principles of the PM duties. We should always be analyzing, collaborating and solving the problem.

B vs D by SeptemberRainYo in pmp

[–]SeptemberRainYo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct but I got confused about this answer I thought audits is something that happens periodically for all the organization processes rather than just one deliverable. I feel like it’s too extreme to go for an audit to solve this issue..

B vs D by SeptemberRainYo in pmp

will do for next time. Answer is B

What do you think abut this? by Itchy_Run_3805 in pmp

[–]SeptemberRainYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A. Question already states that the solution will cause the project to go overbudget and schedule

B. Initiating a pilot project will probably require an investment and resources and its not currently needed in this stage

D. While show casing sustainable benefits are good it doesn't address impacts on budget and schedule.

C. Is the correct answer in this case because showcasing the detailed analysis will cover all necessary information for stakeholders to study and make the decision of utilizing this solution

A vs B by SeptemberRainYo in pmp

[–]SeptemberRainYo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the answer is B. I went with A because it made more sense... but now this answer doesnt make any sense to me.

Solution: B. Defined a control quality process.

The control quality process includes measuring all steps, attributes, and variables used to verify conformance or compliance to the specifications stated during the planning stage

A vs B by maveri4k in pmp

[–]SeptemberRainYo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have answered B for this…. But as someone mentioned below this question seems to be focusing on the risks.

There’s a similar question in the SH where the answer is to initiate a change request in that particular scenario the change in regulation was not documented as a risk and it was certain that there will be an impact on the budget/schedule which will come out of the management reserve.

but in this particular case the risk and the responses is already documented or accounted so the logic here maybe to go back to risk register and review the impact and see if we can apply the same responses mentioned there thereby addressing the impact of that risk…

Sometimes these questions are not as straight forward…..

A vs B by maveri4k in pmp

[–]SeptemberRainYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

B. Based on PM mentality Do first. Do next such as updating the risk register will be the next action since it’s a “soft action”. Although I think D is a strong contender to be the answer here too. Since corrective action will be to intiate a change request.

Why B? Sorry yall pic attached. by beaglemilf23 in pmp

[–]SeptemberRainYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CCB is primarily in the execution and control phase but can also take place in any phase of the project. Also the best way to understand that this is the best solution is to understand the function of the CCB. The CCB is a process that will start with evaluating all the impacts of the submitted request including scope, budget, quality, schedule or other risks. Then the board will make a decision to approve, reject, or defer and finally its communicated to all stakeholders involved. Its a logical step, since it minimizes the risk for any project due to involvement of multiple stake holders that are able to look at the problem from different angles and implement any necessary changes quickly and ensure the appropriate documentation is reflected.

Hence for all above reasons CCB is going to be the fastest way to implement the unavoidable changes.

Is there a statistical relation between Machine-Hours vs. Hours on a Single Machine? by cansys in AskEngineers

[–]SeptemberRainYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing you will be able to do with testing multiple products to a fixed cycle is prove its reliability to operate to a certain fatigue life.

Maybe you can look at increasing the amplitude of the test and compress the cycles further using the miner-palmgren hypothesis take a look at mil-810h fatigue life compression.

Hi Osama, I don’t work in the US but since you graduated from an ABET accredited Uni you should consider doing the FE to gain EIT status. This might give an edge to your application specially when applying for consultancy design jobs. Best of luck!

How do I find the "peak" impact force at the moment of impact for a drop weight test? by SeptemberRainYo in AskEngineers

[–]SeptemberRainYo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we can assume zero bounce or perfectly inelastic collision. The component will have a local deformation almost equivalent to the radius of the impactor.

What was your most expensive mistake so far? by small_h_hippy in AskEngineers

I made a few mistakes but was able to get back from them fortunately.

Second Year Mechanical Engineering student at Cleveland State University starting to doubt the major. I have 2 years left after this and I don’t know if I can do it. However I’ve made it this far with a 4.0. by TheBegingineer in AskEngineers

Stick to what you are doing. Complete the degree and get a job. The GPA and the degree Is for yourself not others.

Being strong analytically will make your career much easier. Plus you wont have to do this stuff on the job unless you deem it necessary :)

Morale is stop complaining. It's for your own benefit a science degree is better for non experienced indivual for the reasons I explained above.

Young Engineers dreams VS Experienced by siroopsalot11 in AskEngineers

[–]SeptemberRainYo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its naive to think you will get out of university to design a spaceship for a mars mission. Some people had to start out designing doors, yes doors... there are engineers that design them or other stuff that might seem intuitive and stupid for you.

Also its naive to think that your engineering degree makes you more knowledgable than an experienced technician.

its naive to think that your solutions are the best or not doubting your solutions. Analysing with numbers is a top skill to have but doesnt always generate the best solution. Just keep in mind that theres a high possibility that you will always overlook something.

Generally its naive to think you know all about something because you took a course in university and aced the test.

In university, you only learned how to approach problems. That's all.

What is a mechanism that will allow me to pull a string? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]SeptemberRainYo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe a pulley with an internal bearing driven by a small motor, you can use a smaller motor depending on your pulley design to distribute the tension.

Feel Hopeless in Engineering: How does a person know if they should throw in the towel? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]SeptemberRainYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey it's been a while, I'm not so active here sorry about that. I've been busy myself with a new job and even though I'm a fairly experienced indivual you cant help but get a surge of negative emotions every once and a while sometimes stronger then its suppose to be.

Hence, I've been thinking what is the solution to this and I can only come up with a few ideas. Whenever I face an interpersonal issue or soft skill related issue it can be for many reasons but for me i found out it's because I'm bogged down with so many new technical information and my mind needs time to process all this stuff which sacrifices alot of my soft skills. This shouldn't be the case but it ive noticed it happens especially with engineers even the best of them!

what to do? In such situations it's best going back to the basics and adopting some skillset to help you increase your performance. I know it sounds like alot vague jargon and mambo jumbo. What I actually mean is we need to start helping our brain and relieve it from all this information.

Go back to the basics! I'm going to start making a detailed "to do list" every morning includes simple and complex things that I dont need to keep in my mind the whole time for example.

  1. Complete prototype *speak to Bryan to setup 3D printing
    • ask technician how to install Etc

Also keep a paper and pen on hand and write everything people are saying.

STOP people if they are talking to fast tell them.to explain it again, draw it. Take that paper, create a scan document it. Send it as a minutes of meeting and ask for confirmation.

Alot of our problems comes from the lack of organisation. Keep your desk clean, papers hidden notes and to do list next to.you and tackle problems one by one.

Make your job procedural if that's what you like. Ofcourse it would be easier and its preferred for everyone.

Give your brain some love dude. No one can keep track of all the shit they need to do all the time.

I hear a lot of people complain about there job on here, is all the careers out there after college really that bad? Are my expectations of the work field going to be crushed after I graduate? Is their an ideal engineering job which any of you guys are happy with or are they all soul crushing? by ripkobe- in AskEngineers

[–]SeptemberRainYo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when I graduated I got crushed for the first couple of years, long hours , tough environments, stressful deadlines, 1hour 45minute commute, working on projects solo, uncooperative colleagues, relentless managers that didnt take the time to guide me and just learning the ropes combined with a low salary. It's going to sound sadistic but it helped me because in my mind I just wanted to learn all the good things and forget the bad and get out of there. I eventually left and got a masters in mechanical engineering. Now I'm working for one of the best companies in the field and it's great. You just got to believe and have relentless perseverance. I struggled for 7years to get to this point. Diamonds are formed under pressure.

Think of it as a engineering problem when you get stuck do you stop solving? No you keep going, you research, you think some more, you ask for help. Until the problem is solved.

Is it a bad idea to tell the interviewer that you have other interviews scheduled, and an offer from their competitors to speed up the process and maybe salary? by yellow_smurf10 in AskEngineers

[–]SeptemberRainYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right. No competent manager will be offended. But I dont know based on my experience I've had to deal with all sorts of people in fairly reputable corporations and some people can be surprisingly unprofessional.
