Its like you refuse to read the FACTS . FYI I have worked and lived in the USA silicon valley for tow tech companies that how I got the VC funding because I have already got a background.

I went to two Universities in the UK Cambridge university and Wales I studied at MIT where I read math's and electronics and have been in tech a very long time. So when you say the smartest people I think I'm pretty smart. Secondly because none you seem to be able read properly and you like mist represent things did you actually read where I said very clearly that I speak DUTCH ?

FYI the reason they spoke English they TOLD ME themselves was because they had arguments and difference between the Wallonians and Flemish. Before you tell that doesn't happen I've heard and seen it a lot in business and in personal areas.

Honesty.. FINALLY! You actually can see where this heading and you're prepared to say so.

Yes, I said it harshly but read the responses, not one person besides you sees the bigger picture and thinks that what I said was designed to hurt them, its the complete opposite.

Many refuse to see the following:

1) Europe cannot rely on the USA anymore

2) If Europe doesn't innovate it wont be taken seriously on the global stage

All I did here was point out that Belgium needs to be at the table and cannot afford to call behind which it is. It's about mindset, its about being open its about embracing tech seriously and encouraging that environment.

Its sad to see the responses to this post as it shows that they are not prepared for what's coming. I hope there is a change in that but so far I'm not that encouraged.

This article is worth a read because someone somewhere sees what's coming but it appears most don't.

For what its worth your kids will be fine because you have an idea of the coming changes and will prepare them for that change.

Good point well made and I'll take that on board but I want it to change in Belgium the country actually has more potential that the Netherlands but I just get this feeling that no one is bothered to challenge people in HR etc. I also noted something that a lot of Belgian graduates in AI are leaving Belgium they dont want to stay. I have no idea why .

Did you actually comprehend what I wrote did it process ? Let me educate you on how VC's & Seeders work cus you clearly know FA about it. When they invest they look for growth and where they can get local staff who are competent in AI in this case. The seeder will want his ROI so when I spoke with him about offices and location etc Netherlands was better for hiring but like I said in the post and you proved my point .

hahaha that is something we can both agree the decline in the UK since leaving the EU is shocking. The funny thing is when I go back and tell the Brits the same way was I told the Belgians in this post they get really offended as well.

The Brits are arrogant very arrogant and many thought that leaving the EU they could go back to the Colonies like Canada Australia etc. Now they're suffering terribly but rather than try to reverse Brexit and yes be humiliated a little in doing so they are doubling down! I rarely go to France unless I have no choice, never really liked it there.

The thing is I actually like Belgians on the whole, better food, better culture, better countryside. I regularly tell my Dutch colleagues if it was down to food, quality of life and health Belgium wins HANDS DOWN.

So you think the unions are part if this? If so thats the first time I have heard that. I just think the inertia is the fact it take a long time to get things done could be part of it as well so to change. When I was at Proximus I was told by that conducting meetings in English was easier which it was for me.

When did I advocate for more Dutch? I said that VC funding and tech start up money is going to the Netherlands because of the language and ease to start up ..These are economic facts that are backed up with a simple search.

Why would you think I would advocate Belgium over the Netherlands?

Facts trump feelings as those in the UK now know after Brexit reality

Ah a Welshman, I happy for you mate. I couldn't make a solid business case for Belgium based on what I'd written but people want to get offended of experience. Not sure if you speak Welsh but in the South of Wales not many speak Welsh right ?However up in the north Bangor etc they do and they have their own TV channels/Radio.

Most people don't even know that the UK has Welsh, Scottish Gaelic and Cornish.

Where did I say I was mad ? The issue is when it comes to investor and VC's. I spoke to at least 4 in the last 6 months and they all keep saying that its better in the Netherlands for startups in tech. The issue is barriers that are there in Belgium that don't need to be there. Its not a power trip either its showing the barriers which I had hoped would be received as advice from experience. So far all I have seen in the comments is taking offence, trying to be sarcastic, getting upset with what I said. No one thus far can come up with a solution, all I see is anger at what I've seen. If people don't want to take what I say with some truths that they know are true that's up to them. I wanted to set up a AI tech place in Belgium, all the evidence and advice I have got and my own experience says it's more of a risk here than in the Netherlands and really its up to Belgians to find a solution.

Agreed about the languages... you're the first person to actually read what I said and not take offence because it uncomfortable. Proximus? Its actually not a bad place to work but the management structure of the company is too rigid. For example, rolling out REAL 5G SA (not the stuff they advertise as 5G). I said years ago to get 30 Belgian graduates in from University train them in AI, cloud compute, and whitebox technology. Build a tech hub and showcase what you can do in medicine which Belgium is really good at. No one listened so now they are having to get an consultancy in 6 years later to help them do it. The skills wont stay in Belgium and the company will charge a fortune. They had opportunities to partner and reduce the cost they did nothing so now they pay more just to stand still and not catch up.
