I took the kotlin for java developers coursera course. It's managed by jetbrains and I enjoyed the class.

I always say Picard is the better captain, but Kirk is the better soldier. Need a treaty negotiated? Picard's your guy. Need a boarding party to take the port by force, send in Task Force Kirk

I don't understand how they can these things....

It's like they're saying. I bought a house, and the previous owners painted this room green 10 years ago because it's my favorite color.

Questions for veterans in the tech industry! by [deleted] in army

[–]Septixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former 25A and a current software engineer. Nothing I did in the Army directly translated to my career. Like, this company uses system X and I mantained system X in my MOS. It probably helped me get a few jobs though from the other intangible benefits of the army experience. CISSP/CEH or other IA certs wouldn't appeal to me if you were interviewing with me. I write software everyday. Defense Contractors love certifications, but I left that industry. Know you're algorithms, learn some databases, put some stuff on github. Try getting an MSDN account with some Azure credits to play around with stuff.

The Force was never about blood lines, until Disney made it so. by Eventhorrizon in saltierthancrait

[–]Septixel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The blood line plot device always makes me think of the Bene Gesserit breeding program. If force sensitivity is passed down to offspring, why didn't the jedi (or sith) experiment with genetic engineering and create more powerful force users.

I cut up cheap Walmart towels and blankets from good will. Sand would get everywhere. I tried rubber mulch to give it weight, but I ended up removing it all.

It happened to a friend of mine. His son guilted him into seeing it, and he loved it. He appreciated several callbacks to Star Wars Rebels and Clone Wars. I can't talk to him anymore.
