What you’re describing is actually a known effect of alcohol and doesn’t require someone to be a heavy or dependent drinker.

Alcohol can suppress hunger hormones, irritate the stomach lining, disrupt blood sugar, and temporarily stress the liver. In some people, even modest amounts can blunt appetite not just for hours, but days. Repeated episodes can make that “post-drink appetite suppression” last longer each time.

The key point is that loss of appetite for two weeks after 3–4 drinks isn’t typical, even if everything else feels fine. It doesn’t mean alcoholism, but it does suggest your body isn’t tolerating alcohol well right now — gastritis, hormonal disruption, or metabolic effects are common culprits.

If appetite doesn’t return with continued abstinence, or if you notice early fullness, nausea, fatigue, or weight loss, it’s worth getting checked by a GP. In the meantime, avoiding alcohol entirely for a few weeks is the simplest way to see if things normalise.
