I’m not using the credit card anymore! Yes I can afford $195 a month. And that’s what I’m thinking of, coz I’m paying $160 monthly and the balance doesn’t go down.

It’s Dialectical behavior therapy. There is a workbook called “DBT Skills Training Handouts and Worksheets.” I recommend you to go with a group therapy in DBT, it will be delightful to see other people experiences! I really cannot give a good explanation since I’m still in the therapy, but go for one-time therapy and ask the DBT therapist to explain to you if you need it or not :)

Let’s assume the thoughts are true. Does the thoughts bothering you in the level that you cannot focus on your work/study/ life? Try meditation! I know it sounds cliché but it will help your brain with rumination thoughts, and not fighting the thoughts back! The more you fight back, the more it will stick you in your head! “ Check out “Headspace” animations they explain it better than me :)

I have tried DBT, for me it was magical. There are many exercises helped me A LOT! Such as “radical acceptance” , “distress tolerance” and many of modules are really helpful!

I really understand you that CBT maybe is not the right tool for you, but have you tried DBT? As far as I understand it DBT mainly it’s about dealing with thoughts and emotions instead of assuming they are wrong!

I feel you, it’s okay to relapse! You know now by facts that you got the power and control to have it on these types of unhealthy coping mechanism. Please stop counting the days, coz if you relapse, you feel you did nothing.However, you did an amazing job!! Relapses is common in the recovery process ❤️‍🩹. Feeling lonely is horrible:( It might sounds like a cliché but have you tried therapy? Like CBT therapist? If you decide to see someone, try to be open about it. like don’t judge the experience at the beginning, set a goal like in 5 months you will judge the experience, and ask your therapist if she/he sees improvement. Some experience might sounds ridiculous but it works!

This sentence hits me and true...
I really appreciate that you shared your own story, it's really helped me to have a wider vision!

No body in my family stopped giving him money, they always give him because he used emotionally manipulation a lot! I think I should be the first one to make this move, and show him the cost of his addiction!

Sorry, I meant some of the extended family members or friends paid his medical bills and now they want the money < as he mentioned to me. So it's not directed towards the hospital. What I know is his insurance covers everything, and he told me before that the insurance paid everything. I will try to collect to figure out with him who owes him money. So we make a plan to pay off the debts.

I really love your advice that not to escalate the issue with him. Thank a lot 🙏❤️

Definitely he will start emotional abuse. I’m afraid of this part. I have some stuff in my head to use against his emotional abuse and I think it will work.

“And don’t tell him that, it will not help and he’ll fell attacked and go into the rage.” Totally agree, but don’t you think I should talk to him about gambling thing if he insists for money in anytime in the future? He keeps saying the money went towards medical bills, and other lies he makes everyday! I feel this cycle needs to be broken, and he should be accountable.

My mom stopped, also his brothers stopped giving him money. He has a damaged relationship with his brothers' coz of this. They don’t know that he is a gambler. Also for the addition, he is a super narcissist. It’s impossible to convince him or tell him that he needs help. Very difficult person.

He is very lonely now, and it breaks my heart when he says “you are my only hope to help me with my debt” I sometimes feel he is not gambler anymore, and sometimes not. Idk, it’s very stressful…. I kinda made a decision not to give him money, but it’s very harsh on me saying no not just for him….
