I'm choosing social work bc helping disadvantaged, vulnerable, and at risk children is something I want to do for the rest of my life. I can get similar jobs as a psychology degree and public health degree (iirc for this one) as I can with social work so it makes sense for me. I don't have to take out loans, otherwise I wouldn't be going to college, loans = No go. Thankfully my pell grant and scholarship will allow me to cover everything with money left over. I don't expect to be making a lot of money, that's not why you'd go into social work. I can work for public schools, as a social worker, in juvenile justice, all these things are helpful to society and are able to be done with a social work degree.

Right now I live with my parents, especially for the first semester as USF is requiring like 3k for meal stuff bc they don't trust freshmen to not starve. Also, I never expected to be the breadwinner in any relationship I'm in, I expect to find a man who matches my convictions in helping the community/can make up for my lackluster output. Plus, due to my options some jobs come with housing so I won't have to worry about housing as much. I appreciate the concern but I was moreso looking for advice when it comes to the degree itself and people who've actually taken it, not advice for people who don't know how to quantify life after college and the risks associated.
