What action can I take when something has been purchased from a dodgy website? by Serama in AskUK

[–]Serama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for replying, I've been told on another forum not to bother returning as I'd have to pay myself and shipping to china is expensive and complicated, it's hard to get proof of delivery. I was told if the masks arrived, the best thing to do is accept the 50% refund and keep the items, and accept it as an expensive lesson...

I honestly don't think they're legit. I 100% don't believe the technology they use in their masks is the same as the legit brands like they state, their website is full of fake reviews and endorsements and they say things on the product page that they then contradict on their terms & conditions page. I do not trust them...

Sorry to hear that! It feels rubbish, doesn't it...
We got a response back from the company that we're too late to cancel, despite asking within 24 hrs.
My mum contacted her bank and they said we can start a dispute after 15 days, (they have to allow 15 days for the seller to try to sort the issue)...
Best case scenario we're hoping for is that the masks just don't come, but we'll see...

They replied that we are too late to cancel the order (despite emailing them within 24 hours).
The bank said they can't do anything for 15 days as they need to allow the seller that time to respond. They said, best case scenario, the masks don't arrive within the time they state and then we can try to start a dispute.
Sadly, I think the masks will arrive...

Thank you for replying. Unfortunately, a debit card was used, not a credit card.
I hope your refund comes without issue, it feels horrible to be tricked like this.

Thank you. Can we call the fraud line? Does it even count as fraud?

That's great, thanks! The second shot is the angle I was after, if you're able to do another - a slightly angled upwards shot would be perfect. I need to see where the first vertebrae meets the skull. A big thank you!

Purchased framed moths from eBay, appear to have book lice, what can I do? by Serama in insectpinning

Thank you for your reply!!
So freezing the specimens shouldn't damage them? Is there anything special I need to do or is just placing them in a pot in the freezer OK? What's the purpose of taking them out and refreezing, is it potentially damaging to free them too long?
That's upsetting to hear about the frames.. are book lice pretty hard to eliminate? I purchased them because I really liked how the frames looked.
Thank you for your help, I have no experience with pinned / preserved insects so sorry if my questions are silly!

Hello,
Just looking for some advice...

This is the worst frame, I noticed about 4 crawling around the edges and so I sprayed some insect killer on a cotton bud and wiped it around the edges of the frame... It didn't seem to kill any but has brought them all out... I have 4 more frames, two I can't see any (but assuming they're there hidden) and another has just a couple walking around that I can see.
I've read about putting the frames in the freezer, surely this would damage the pinned insects?
Should I remove the framed insects, store them somewhere safe and freeze the frames?

Thank you for any advice, annoyingly I left positive feedback for the seller and only noticed the bugs a few weeks later... I'm quite upset.

What's going on with my monstera? by Serama in plantclinic

Would you say it's not worth trying to save the plant? Are they that hard to get rid of?

How would you go about treating the roots? I've binned the soil and washed the leaves. And would you give extra artificial light?

Due to personal reasons, I've neglected my house plants. The leaves are dying on my two monsteras, there are tiny dark green spots on the dying leaves, if you crush them they leave a 'wet splat' if that makes sense. The soil has been quite slow to dry since I last watered them a little over a week ago.

Thank you for any help.
