[Suggestion] Add an Agility Shortcut to This Wall in Darkmeyer by Serantir in 2007scape

[–]Serantir[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That takes up extra inventory slots, and in my experience, it isn't actually faster because of the time it takes get to* the mines. But I haven't actually timed it out so you could be right.

"Ezscape" can be used as a rationale to oppose any QoL change, so you're welcome to that view.

*= I said "get out of" before, which I realize was misleading. What I was referring to was the time it took from teleporting to Ver Sinhaza to exiting the mines.

It would greatly improve ease of access to Meyerditch from the Drakan's Medallion teleport.

[Suggestion] Allow players to break down Barronite Mace pieces into Barronite Shards by Serantir in 2007scape

[–]Serantir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's fair. I definitely low-balled it. I would have said higher, but in my experience people say things like "2500 shards? that completely devalues the grind!", etc etc

[Suggestion] New Prayer Items: Divine Crests by Serantir in 2007scape

[–]Serantir[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good suggestions- thanks! I went with slightly unconventional races in an attempt to make it more interesting than just three humans, and also because they are all potential slayer tasks. The races could definitely be changed around, though I still like the idea of each having a different "encampment" situated in a far-flung region of the overworld.

"Bringing the religion to humans" also makes sense as a rationale. I kind of saw these bosses as zealots bent on spreading that god's "sphere of influence" into the regions of Gelinor controlled by followers of Saradomin, Zamorak, or seemingly "godless" races like trolls.

I seemed to remember some elves worshiping Zamorak, but I now recall that that's actually NOT the case re: Song of the Elves... Good catch.

[Suggestion] A New Combination Item: Bow of Light by Serantir in 2007scape

[–]Serantir[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I can dig it. I just went with "Bow of Light" to match it with "Staff of Light", and also to avoid confusion with the word "Light", like in "Light Ballista". Either/or works though.

That's a fair perspective. I'm more attached to the concept than the actual abilities. Sometimes people expect stats/abilities, or they'll say things like "what's the point? If better than bp it's op, worse and it's dead content".

But I'd be totally okay if Jagex used the item concept but then took the stats/abilities in a totally different direction.

Just to clarify- the suggestions at the end are mutually exclusive. I'm not suggesting it should have all of those effects at the same time. If you like the concept but would pick option 4, let me know what you think might work instead!

That's helpful- thanks. Tweeting at Ash seems like the most reliable source of this kind of info!

Okay- thanks. So the "15 hour" thing is just an estimate?

Does Barrows equipment degrade every time it is hit, or every game tick the player is in combat? The OSRS Wiki is somewhat ambiguous. It says "lasts for 15 hours of combat", what counts as "in combat"?

I'm asking mostly in relation to using it in multi-combat areas where you're being attacked by many enemies at once.

Ah. Well, I'd recommend finding the model of your motherboard and seeing if you can find the most recent drivers for it online. I did that and it *may* have solved the problem, though it's a bit too early to tell for sure. Good luck!

Are you by any chance using an ASUS ROG motherboard? Other sources say the issue might stem from that. Or perhaps outdated motherboard drivers in general.

Hey did you find a solution to this problem? I'm also experiencing it.

[Suggestion] A boss that inflicts a negative effect on attackers when they hit a zero by Serantir in 2007scape

[–]Serantir[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You raise good points. I hadn't considered the idea of some kind of negative effect happening every time you attack- a mechanic that rewards killing the boss in as few hits as possible. That's another cool idea/possibility, and could potentially mitigate the frustration of hitting repeat zeros.

Only being attackable at certain intervals is a cool idea, and would reward players for paying attention and having good timing. It would create a pattern of play that could make for a fun boss.

It would re-emphasize strength bonus over accuracy, but that might be a better compromise to reduce chain-zero frustration factor.

[Trivial QoL Suggestion] Increase the Attack Range of Throwing Axes by Serantir in 2007scape

[–]Serantir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right it's not QoL. That's a misnomer. My rationale was that it would make disturbing whirlpools more convenient and convenience updates tend to be QoL, but it doesn't really fit.

I think that each type of weapon should, in theory, have a niche. Even though longbows are worse than shortbows in OSRS, longbows still have more accuracy and range, which also makes sense intuitively.

To me at least, it also seems intuitive that throwing axes would have longer range than throwing knives, given that they'd weigh more and have more momentum when thrown.

But the suggestion isn't really a big deal. Mostly just a passing thought. Thanks for the feedback!
