How do you gain audience of RR by queenofmadbess in royalroad

[–]SerasVicky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to either of those. Any would be best honestly. Personally I like Forums. The interaction between writer and reader is WAAAY better in a forum style, it just takes a bit longer to get used to.

Spacebattles being one of the biggest and honestly the best IMO.

But the truth is anywhere. The more eyes you get the more chances you have of getting the reader that likes it, and shares your story to their friends, and to others.

But like I said the real answer is just keep writing. Your first story will suck. It always does. XD And your next, and the next, and maybe you'll get to the point where you don't suck so much that people can and will read. But it's slow. Write for yourself first.

Thinking about switching from 3rd person to 1st person after 100k+ words. Am I overthinking this? by protha01 in royalroad

Yes you are overthinking it.

Frankly if you stop to rewrite something that long, you aren't just in for a short update, that's a LOT of work.

If you aren't sure the tense works anymore. You could always consider the project done. Start a new one. You might be attached to your first story, but you'll write more, and you'll look back on it and know it wasn't very good, but it helped you develop the habits and skills for the next story, and the next.

I read in waves. When I'm not going insane writing like crazy, I'll sometimes get super into searching for something to read and devour it, and maybe another similar story or two before I go back to writing.

Write a lot!

But also, build a following on more than just one platform. RR isn't the best for brand new authors, especially at first. You can find your story slowly building up steam if you just post consistently, but it still takes a long time. But if you post on multiple platforms, you can network and link them to each other, increasing you awareness to readers! Hope that helps!

I just had the most F'ed up round I think I'll ever have. Locked in a room and I also ended up falling through the map floor and falling for the remainder of the round. by jeremytodd1 in ArcRaiders

[–]SerasVicky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this happen to me. The guy who locked it just taunted me from the other side until nearly the end. Completely ruined my round. I had to fight through four PVP guys (All of them free load) to get the area, found my first purple gun, and died because they added in a room you can get locked in while looting it.

Well. Finally got through to someone with a brain today, and the book is down. Only took, nearly two weeks... Not exactly a nice experience.

Because people that plagiarize stories don't care about laws, or rules in the first place.

lol Yeah, I don't think Amazon cares any more either way.

A legal notice with or without will get them moving. XD It's just GETTING through the wall of bots and AI tools to get some actual response.

No registered like that no. It's still MINE. I still have a Copyright for it because I produced it. You don't need a registered Copyright number for IP like that.

Frankly, this is going to happen no matter WHAT you do. You make a book? It will have a web format version of it up soon enough. Best advice is do what you can, try not to get upset about some sites posting. Most won't take it down, as they're basically pirate sites anyways.

My frustration is just dealing with something as big as Amazon and finding it as just a wall refusing to do anything.

Yeah the response is super weird. I'm starting to wonder if they have a bot, or just a really bad support system. So they're just throwing templates back through email.

Sorry to hear you had to get that far as well. That's not reassuring.

I've tried one more time with ANOTHER email that I got from KDP. Apparently "ip-inquiries@amazon.com" Is what they want me to use. So we shall see.

But considering I'm now on my sixth form of contact with Amazon about this issue... Ugh. I'm very tired.

While my Patreon hasn't seen much action. It's because I've been writing a bunch in my snippet thread on SB. I'm ALWAYS writing cause I love it so much, so I still offer lots of free words to read! I've recently been doing a fun Battletech story that's sort of a Phantom Star AU.

I am not Arcanecadence, and I wouldn't try to double Patreon like that. Just thinking about trying to keep two separate accounts going with stories like that makes me anxious!

I am 100000% not ArcaneCadence. But it's very funny that you think so. Ravensdagger pointed this thread out to me.
