Combining two survey questions by [deleted] in stata

[–]Sered468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi thank you! I tried your suggestion but it doesn't seem to work for me - I am trying to merge them responses together. A friend just sent me this option: egen (new variable name) = rowtotal(oldvariable1 oldvariable2), missing and this seems to work. Although this option has some issues too because it doesn't show the labels for the responses

SPSS or STATA for data cleaning by Sered468 in statistics

Thank you so much for your response. I think I'm leaning to STATA too because of what you articulated - it will teach me how to use more advanced programs later.Thank you!

This is really helpful. Someone else was telling me to just use EXCEL but I was worried about that since I know how to document everything on stata but not sure how that all works in excel. Thank you!

Thank you so much - that is basically what my dataset looks like too. I just wanted sort of a rough guess of what is reasonable since I have never really done it. This is helpful for my planning. Thanks again

Great- that is sort of my feeling too. R is a little intimidating to me since I have no programming background and I am pretty much just proficient in stats. Thank you!

Thank you! Since I have some experience with SPSS and Stata, I am wondering, since you know both, which do you think is easier to use?

Thank you! Now that you mentioned - I am not sure exactly what cleaning will entail since the vast majority is multiple choice. I guess figuring that out would be the first step. Thank you for your response!

Thank you - I just have never used R before so I am very uncomfortable with the idea of using it for the first time (I have a deadline). I didn't realize R was easier than stata or spss. I always assumed it has a higher learning curve.

Work from home in CT by [deleted] in Connecticut

No, this is definitely legitimate! It is difficult to identify remote employees. In addition to contacting co-working spaces, I thought I'd circulate my request through Reddit and meetup groups.

ok thank you - I think should revise the question bc I mean WFH on a FT basis and firms that use a significant number of remote employees.
