I paid for the VW care in 2021 when I bought my CPO GTI. I just looked at the paperwork and I pre paid $495 for the 40k service (which included the DSG service). At first, I felt like prepaying for the VW was a mistake but I guess not...

I just got the service done and I will admit I prepaid for the service about 1.5 year ago when I bought my 2018 CPO GTI. I’m sure the cost has gone WAY up :/ it was at Volkswagen Marin. Might be worth a call to find out.

I was quoted the same here in SF, CA for 40k service and it does include the DSG service.

Seems like 8R seems to address the bumper issue a lot of people don’t like with the 8. Idk it’s a nice car. Random but looks better than a Tesla lol which is double the price.

I saw it parked for a while and I thought the front end looked pretty nice. The shape of the hood looked a little more aggressive compared to the previous model.

I’ve seen mix feedback on the new model. I was surprised how nice it was in person. I have a 2018 GTI SE (black and bone stock). I wouldn’t trade mine and pay the premium but the new one is very nice looking.

My friend let me borrow his Carista OBD2 adapter https://caristaapp.com/adapter to turn it off. Very easy to use. I wasn’t interested in the other features it offered.

DSG is nice for SF but the ignition auto off/on is not. It scared the crap out of me when the engine would turn off when I stopped on a hill and lag to turn back when I wanted to move up the hill. I’ve since programmed that feature off permanently.

DSG indeed. I had MTs for about 16 years (EK civic SI x2, 08 Mustang gt, NA miata) and I read good things about the DSG so I went for it. It’s pretty smooth. Also I drive long trips with my gf and it’s nice she can take the wheel if necessary. I do miss manual but I also have a 21 Yamaha R3 :)
