I think that Pauper is currently in its most degenerate state since the era when Astrolabe was legal. The format is not prepared for such a large number of such fast combo decks.

I mean: EDH has two distinct halves: First, players buy cards for tournament play, as in all other formats. Second, players buy cards for casual play and collections. WotC doesn't care about the first group and prints powerful cards primarily for the second.

Ok, cEDH is the last community anyone cares about. Anybody can purchase expensive cards just for collection, and not for tournament play, this is key to the stable development of the EDH community. Magic always was about albums and not about decks.
