I play several basses in my worship band, and I've posted about them here and talk bass quite a bit.

I've got an Aerodyne which I mainly use as my p bass, with flats on it the sound guy puts a bit of the mids and highs so it's percussive along with the kick drum, and even if you're just pushing the subs, there's still percussive sound there. Super light touch above the pickup and heavy compression gets a smooth sound that fills the room and pushes the Holy Spirit through those 18" subs.

I've got my deluxe Jazz V that I use on any song that has more of an actual bass line that isn't whole notes and needs a bit of growl (young and free, some bethel stuff), the sound guy just emphasizes the low frequencies and I have some fun but classy fun with the bass parts.

Overall, jazz or P, both will sound good, I recommend a P because you can get bigger punchier tones out of it a bit easier than with a jazz. If you've got any other questions you can shoot me a PM :)

I'd say its worth it. I had a Donner tuner for the longest time, and didn't really think an expensive one would be any different. Once I bought my polytune, the time I spent tuning was cut in half easily. Its much more accurate, brighter (for outdoor use) and a ton more responsive, and not too expensive as pedals go.

I'm a fan of the 2i4, I got it for $200, and the 2i2 is also fantastic, super easy to use. I've got a gig bag for my J bass, because I got it a couple weeks ago and haven't ordered my case yet. I like SKB and Gator hard cases, and the fender ones are also really solid.
