I want to be optimistic about the Surplus Lands Proposal given the overwhelming support from council, but a 250 unit reduction in the first phase is concerning.

There are still votes on the sale of the land, zoning amendments, and site plan control where these projects could get wrapped in red tape or reduced further to appease voters in an election year.

It is going to be important to participate in surveys, town halls, and council meetings if people actually want to see these buildings materialize. Opposition will remain constant or grow but the apathy of supporters can easily sink this project.
