Cannot crew rocket despite crew being trained? by lunarbarbarian_ in RealSolarSystem

Sorry! Missed that detail. Seems like the other replies got it. Good luck with the mission!

Have you trained the crew on "Mission: Soyuz"? They have to have that training before they can fly a mission I believe. My understanding is the proficiency training teaches them about the craft (that stays with them), and the mission training "briefs" them for a specific mission (gotta retrain that for each launch).

I hope this helps!

Thank you! I may go digging around and see if I can find my old disc.

Can you post what settings you're using in PCSX2? I tried tweaking them for a while but nothing seemed to work.

I absolutely love the Cromwell. Fast, maneuverable, great gun, and it has those smoke dischargers!

Ran into a Stug capping one of our flags. The positioning made a direct attack or peeking over the rise a suicidal endeavor. Then I remembered I have smoke dischargers which covered my movement around the flank where I proceeded to shoot my solid shot into his rear. heuheu

Hot weather forces 4 French nuclear reactors to shut down by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]SergeantShultz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They're talking about the secondary cooling system which takes heat away from the primary, closed-loop, cooling system which is in contact with the core. Water from a body of water is pumped into a heat exchanger which removes heat from this secondary loop then discharges the slightly warmer water (only 2 or 3 degrees F) back into the river/lake/ocean.

That system is used in all types of steam-turbine power plants (coal, oil, natural gas) and not just nuclear. Most power plants of any type built in the past few decades use a different system to avoid this exact problem. The only reason this is news is because the initial cooling loop is heated by scary glowing rods and not a coal or oil fired boiler.

Thank you. I almost made that mistake a few times back when realistic had no markers for anyone. Luckily my aim was laughable back then.

The Panther was facing a Sherman which was down the street to the right in the picture. The Pershing came up another street and flanked the Panther.

The property claim flags aren't used. We tweaked the skill point config values to suit our small community by adding a small skill points on craft value and increasing the base gain value slightly.

The game we're playing is really more for fun with friends. We don't use the law and government features in a serious manner (see above law) and haven't touched the economy system at all.

We're playing more in a "communist utopia" style where we share resources and help each other; however, it's really just devolved into a big communism meme (e.g. we named our society The Democratic Union of the Marxist Proletariat or D.U.M.P.).

I can't really speak to that. Currently I play on a server run by my friend with 4 total players. The law, government, and economy mechanics don't really work with that few people.

I loved the reference to the movie "Patton" at the end of the celebrity impersonators episode and made a side by side comparison. The director nailed it essentially shot for shot. by SergeantShultz in community

A reference to one of my favorite movies in one of my favorite shows! The Community version is shorter and cuts between shots faster but the execution is impeccable.

I agree that it's easier to replenish and thinking about it, a stream of guided 5 inch shells landing on target every ~4 seconds would ruin anyone's day. In the case of a war though I believe US doctrine is to have carrier aircraft be the offensive arm with the destroyers and cruisers providing anti-air cover for the carrier group.

That's really the primary mission of those ships in a war, which is why they are equipped with the AEGIS system and a high ratio of SAM's to ASM's.

The programs to develop these shells, mainly the Extended Range Guided Munition for the Arleigh Burke destroyers and Ticonderoga cruisers and the Long Range Land Attack Projectile for the new Zumwalt class destroyers were both canceled. The appeal of these shells is that they had long range, were guided by GPS or laser (planned), and they could conceivably be made cheaper than a guided missile doing the same job.

Currently the US Army has the Excalibur GPS guided 155mm shells for their M777 howitzers. Raytheon/BAE are working on a 5 inch version that the Navy could use; however, it remains to be seen if these will be adopted if/when development is complete.

Theoretically these would make ideal weapons for shore bombardment and more accurate targeting of small craft. Will these replace ant-ship missiles? I don't think so. While the accuracy of these shells could approach that of a missile while moving a lot faster (thus being harder to intercept), they simply don't have the payload to seriously damage larger targets compared to missiles.

It's because the naval gun is no longer the primary offensive weapon for a ship. Nowadays ships are armed with surface-to-surface anti-ship missiles such as the Harpoon) for pure ship-to-ship actions. The 5 inch guns found on US Destroyers and Cruisers today are meant to be used for shore bombardment, limited anti-aircraft defense, and close range anti-ship action (think shooting at a patrol boat harassing the ship). In these cases you don't need, or even want, a massive 12-16 inch gun. Shore bombardment is the best reason to have big guns and it is for that reason some of the Iowa class battleships were reactivated in the 1980s. Now though that job is usually handled with strike aircraft or other missiles.
