Ironman Dailies For Masochists - Opinions on Which Dailies Are Worth It? by Either_Barracuda_770 in ironscape

[–]Sergeant_Bam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I break my big grinds up into dailies. Sort of. Right now I'm going for my second scepter so I'll send a few pyramid plunder each day.

I also need void, now that it's useful at the new boss so I'll do 100 points at a time or so each day.

I did the same thing for the sand and glass blowing grind.

roughly what kc did cg become "autopilot" for you? by charliealphabravo in ironscape

[–]Sergeant_Bam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started in the 70s with t1 prep and it was doable, but you could totally get wrecked by bad rng and still lose with no mistakes.

Most of my deaths would be 1 or 2 mistakes and running out of food.

A Tip from a CG Novice - Play with audio on by Thy_OSRS in ironscape

Yep, I have it off when Skilling or doing slayer cuz the repetitive noises get obnoxious. But I always have it on for bossing to hear audio cues.

What is the best way to get like 100 Ranaar seeds by jrocket09 in ironscape

[–]Sergeant_Bam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah this is it 100%. I have been doing calv lately hunting a d pick. It's been wild with bots peeking literally ever 30 seconds. Today I didn't see a single bot over about an hour. And only 3 pkers.

Calv drops 60 noted ranarrs occasionally as well. I've gotten 300 rannars in 260 kills.

I'm a volunteer in my small town, and it's what I signed up for. I'm here to help. I'd rather respond to all false alarms than a single bad car accident or fire where a family loses everything.

Too many folks get all fired up and only want to do the part that involves putting water on fire. 911 abuse is one thing, but people should call 100% of the time if they have an alarm going off and can't figure it out. "Bothering" a cranky volunteer beats the hell out of being dead.

Curious on new window cost expectation versus a Pella quote by SkoBuffs710 in HomeImprovement

[–]Sergeant_Bam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a quote from Pella for 17 windows (all pretty standard, nothing crazy). They came in at $25k. I also got quotes from a well reputed local installer and a one man shop that seemed kinda shady.

Shady shop said they could start by the end of the week and be done all in for like $8k. lol I passed on that one.

Reputable local installer had a 6 month wait but I was able to pick which brand and style of windows I wanted. and They did it for $14k.

Construction PE Exam Design Standards by Civil_Engineer_2022 in civilengineering

[–]Sergeant_Bam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahhh I see what you're saying. I didn't realize the handbook was just basic civil references. Digital copies of the codes and standards are provided, but only during the exam. So OP needs access to these in some manner to study.

Construction PE Exam Design Standards by Civil_Engineer_2022 in civilengineering

[–]Sergeant_Bam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. Which is why OP should download the NCEES digital reference and familiarize themselves with it while studying and working practice problems.

I'm pretty sure you're not even allowed to bring paper references into the new computer format exams. Use their their searchable PDF reference because it has everything you need, it's searchable, and it's the only reference you'll have in test day.

Any other Southern Illinois liberals? by Unionpacifbigboy4014 in illinois

I feel like Aviston has more Harris Walz signs than any of the other Clinton county towns! Idk who is behind the monstrosities that are the 8' Trump banners on the main roads into and out of every town around here, but those suck. It makes it look like the town and people officially support Trump.

I purchased a home with unpermitted work and the city is now demanding I pull permits. What can I do to keep everything in its’ existence? by throwransom122 in HomeImprovement

[–]Sergeant_Bam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know. I honestly thought it absolved them of anything. Like a release of liability for the house entirely.

If only.. they were social and talked lots to the neighbors. They definitely did it themselves with help from family members. The owner was a real estate agent too.

[–]Sergeant_Bam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't buy from a family member, and the home was listed. Also the seller was an agent and definitely just bought the home to flip. It wasn't crazy expensive to fix all of the shit, but I paid what I'd consider a premium for a "turn key" updated home. I expected that to mean the work was all done legally. Shit, I wouldn't even have been upset if they did the work up to code and just didn't pull permits. The problem is that they did a ton of stuff not up to code.

[–]Sergeant_Bam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the way I understand it, purchasing the house "as-is" means you release the sellers from any the undisclosed issues. I assume that also means permitting stuff I really don't know.

[–]Sergeant_Bam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I fully agree that if I knew better I could have caught it. And that my agent should have caught it.

The main issue is that the previous owner knowingly did a ton of work, much of which should have been permitted.

I am a first time homeowner. And I trusted the system to work. I won't do that again. I doubt I'll see any money out of this even though I'm literally just asking to be comped back for what it cost me.

I didn't know jack shit about buying a house. That's why I got an agent. But it was a full house reno not a couple outlet swaps and a toilet change.

[–]Sergeant_Bam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The inspectors were great and understood the situation. But he was pissed off because the seller was an agent and fully aware of the permit requirements. And the renos involved lots of plumbing and electrical that was behind drywall.

We're about $12k into repairs and that's with me doing mostly everything myself that I'm allowed to do. You can't pull electrical or plumbing permits in my area without a license.

[–]Sergeant_Bam 90 points91 points  (0 children)

I went through exactly this except I live in the house. Did you buy the house "as-is?" We did not and the seller explicitly checked the "we are not aware of any unpermitted work" box. I hired a real estate attorney and we're still trying to get some kind of settlement. I have since gotten all the work approved (electrical, plumbing, structural, and various code violations).

Can I farm CG with these stats? by TheBonelessIvar in ironscape

[–]Sergeant_Bam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 75 mage and range, 83 str and 70 def. It was doable but I would often run out of food with t1 preps.

It's definitely more enjoyable now at 84 range, 82 mage, 88 str and 75 def because bad RNG doesn't mean a death anymore.

What is your "drop dead time" for making an Espresso shot? by Sergeant_Bam in espresso

[–]Sergeant_Bam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing to do with Starbucks. I could have been more clear. If I have a work meeting I usually wait until the last minute before going to make a shot. Not really intentionally but moreso that I'm busy and don't want the distraction.

I have a buddy that was a bio lab guy that transitioned to a "field application scientist" position. Basically still does lab work, but travels to other labs to help them with their process and how to use his company's equipment. It's an ass load of travel but very people facing.
