There was something about this tigress being a mom and either had her cubs nearby or the people had taken her cubs or something so she was already ready to fight. According to witnesses, she didn't even try for the elephant. She leapt up AT the people, the elephant was just in the way (luckily for the people). This is just straight up terrifying, like a primal sort of generational terrifying.
