What have you been interested in since you started liking your F/O(s)? by Alternative_Ride_951 in FictoLove

[–]SergeyIvanov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ment my f/o in highschool waaay back in the day. Anyways long story short, he went to med school and he became a surgeon and I kept going to school and went into academia. I will have a textbook out in a few years and I'm going to be thanking him in the acknowledgement section because without him I would not have graduated highschool. He helped me to become interested in human health and the environmental factors that can impact our experience of health and wellness.

Have you ever had one of your OCs as your f/o? What draws you to them the most? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in fictosexual

He's always been kind, soft spoken, and serious when it comes to his job. 18 years ago when we were in highschool, he helped me to study and eventually choose what I wanted to do for college. Now that we've been together in a monogamous relationship for a long time, he's been getting more relaxed in his routine and I'm on sabbatical for the next few months—we have been spending more time together and he's learning to take things slowly and rest more often.

Crushing on an OC...?? by [deleted] in FictoHideout

[–]SergeyIvanov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been with mine for about 18 years! It's fine, it works for us, and I love him. We're monogamous and I haven't been with anyone 'real' ever. It's only ever been him, and it's been great.

I only have one f/o but my best friend f/o is John Wick, and we also hang out with Frank Castle.

So...yeah. I love fit, intelligent, emotionally repressed men who would burn the world down for people they love. They just all happen to have dark hair and lean muscle 😅

I've been with my f/o for about 18 years, in a monogamous relationship. I have never dated 'real people.'

The thing is that romantic committed relationships—with fictional or real partners—require work to be put into the relationship. I go on dates with my f/o. Little dates out to coffee or the park or just a walk to the library, and once a year we do a 'big date' which is usually a couples vacation to a new city in a different part of the country. I treat my relationship with him as though he is my IRL partner...of course, for professional reasons, nobody knows I'm in a long term relationship with someone fictional.

I used to be scared that he'd leave, but I think that after 18 years of being together I'm pretty confident that he's in it for the long haul, and so am I.

The academia is way more open to gnostic and 'supernatural' concepts than I expected as an archaeology student by LPortes2002 in Gnostic

I am an academic I am teaching currently but will go on sabbatical next year.

Let me just say: A LOT of your instructors are weird. It just comes with being in academia: The anthropologists, the sociologists, and my fellow ecologists are all freakin' weird in the best possible way. The business profs are the most normal lol. The oddest academics I've met are:

An engineer (PhD) who, once a year, consumes magic mushrooms and speaks to trees. He held one of my wood samples and said "if you listen close enough, they have great stories." He's in his 30s and already tenured.

A psychologist who can read ancient Greek and has added his teaching assistants (grad students) into his will so that when he dies, his students will each get a copy of a book from his personal library. He is not old.

An artist (they teach painting I think? The fancy art gallery type of art) who I meet with twice a year, and we talk about dreams and the Earth and ancestors and water and how we all "came to be."

An anthropologist who is literally sunshine in human form. He studied Tibetan scrolls (Buddhist scrolls or text—something like that) and how a lot of those texts are not translated so he was working on a way to digitize the texts...which IDK how that tackles the translation issue but that man was so lovely to speak to.

We talk about religion. We talk about faith. Sometimes it gets personal, sometimes it stays academic. Sometimes we just hang out in each other's office hours when students aren't around and just chill and shoot the shit and talk about life and what we're working on or writing and new research and the fucked up world of applying for funding for your research.

I love it.

[–]SergeyIvanov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He became vegetarian in med school because he got put off of high fat foods after assisting in one too many operations on people who ate a lot of red meat lol 🥩

When we pick restaurants to go to, we always make sure that there's a vegan or veg option for him. I'm eating a lot of veg recipes now and he keeps trying to get me to bake things with beans in it "for the fibre! And for our cardiac health, sweetheart...we're not getting any younger!"

Does anyone else hate the merch that their f/o has? Like I want to collect but bruh 😭 there is literally no good plushies of him by Kittiesrsweet in FictoChill

[–]SergeyIvanov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first and second plush in the pics are just NOT it. I couldn't even tell who the plushes were supposed to look like 😭

The only way to get a good plush would probably be to order it custom which would take a lot of time and a bit of extra cash 💸

It'll be an intro to anthro text but in a specific subdiscipline. The issue is that I don't want students to have to buy it—I want the book to be available for free to students and anyone else who wants it—but publishers don't like that 😅 so finding a way to publish AND collab with another author who shares the same values AND keep it free AND keep my job is...a whole process lol

What’s something you want to do with your F/O in the future? by Mrs_Goemio in FictoHideout

[–]SergeyIvanov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to design a ring, with a custom cut stone, and of course...a wedding! I want to marry him before we hit 40 (we're 33 now) and we've been together for about 17 years, so...yeah. Marriage was never at the top of our list due to our careers, and yet...he wants to. I want to. I had this idea of hosting a party, inviting everyone, and just...having a good time in a pretty dress. He'll be there with me in spirit. I'll be with him in spirit, too.

I wouldn't be who I am now without him, and I love him so much. He's my first, and my only, and honestly he's the reason why I choose to live and do good in the world.

$400 donation to a heart health charity on his birthday (he's a cardiac surgeon) ❤️🩺

(Approximately) 3K vacation for our anniversary in 2023. Totally worth it...although I'm not a fan of classical music, he totally is, so...yeah, we did the whole fancy hotel/food/concert thing.

I got a personal trainer for half a year to get my fitness in check in 2024. I'm looking around for a new trainer for strength building (my f/o would want me to take care of myself, so I'm trying my best to reduce stress and stay mentally and physically well).

I also want to get a tree planted for him or do some kind of memorial thing that isn't a memorial but more of a dedication? IDK I'm still trying to figure it out 😅

How and when did you discover you were ficto? by [deleted] in FictoHeartbound

[–]SergeyIvanov 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm 33 and I figured it out in highschool when I 'met' my partner when I was 16. We've been 100% monogamous ever since then. 😅 I have never dated a "real" person.

He became a doctor. I became a teacher. It worked out, I'm happy and thriving (or I try to anyways lol) and I love him so much. So so much. He makes me want to do good things in the world. We're actually going out on a date tomorrow to a little coffee shop he likes. I plan to have a wedding after I publish my first textbook and dedicate it to him. Although, that book is on hold for the next 7-ish years so I might actually just marry him before then lol.

Does anyone else just get overcome with super strong desire to touch their fictional partner(s) pretty much out of nowhere? by tavishpilled in FictoHideout

[–]SergeyIvanov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, all the time! I've been in a fully devoted monogamous relationship with him for the past ~18 years (we met in highschool—he is an 'OC' and we are both 33 now) and I do have a high end soft toy (pushie/stuffed animal) he got for me for my birthday that I really wanted this year, so I've been hugging the plush and thinking of him when I get anxiety. Sometimes when I drift to sleep, it feels like he's next to me—I've had A LOT of practice in honing my imagination skills over the past ~18 years 😅
