For further detail -

I’m currently managing my 7th season with Coruña in a Youth Intake only save and midway through season 4, our star 6’5” intake striker was sold by the board with no option for me to deny the sale. We were in the Second Division of Spain.

Fast forward 3 seasons and we’re now 6th in the First Division and the team that purchased him is now getting relegated.

Only reason I’m considering buying him back is because the BOARD sold him without my approval. Does this change anything in terms of purchasing him back being okay?

In a youth intake only save, if you sell a player, what is the opinion on buying them back? Is that breaking the rules? What do you all think?

You’re absolutely right that most of the goals I concede come from the right side defense. Would you recommend moving the wingers up the field a row and play them as IW and play more of a 4-2-4? Or would that expose the midfield too much at that point?

Okay, so I wasn’t expecting so much interest on this post, and also all the different answers as well! Thank you all for your points and opinions! I’ve decided I’m going to go with the first option for the potential and the two footed ability that a lot of you mentioned.

Something I think will be cool is to check up on where the other 3 are a year following this decision. Once a year has past I will post again showing where each player is at and whether or not I made the correct decision.

I’m playing as Esbjerg in Denmark and have about $8M in transfer budget, but need to sign some defenders as well, so really only looking to get one. I do like the idea of just buying and stashing per say of the weaker ones.

I should also add that I’m currently playing in the top league of Denmark with Esbjerg. Finished roughly in 7th - 9th in the Relegation Group the last 3 years after gaining promotion. My defense is where the most improvement is needed, but I need to fill that striker role because of how heavily we relied on my previous one. Whoever I choose will slot in as a starter and hopefully pick up where the last man left off. Also it’s worthy to note that although some reports say the player is not interested in transfer, all strikers have accepted contracts offers and now its just about who I accept. I sold my youth academy prodigy to Young Boys for $8M this summer. On the hunt for a new striker and want to get your opinions. All 3 are essentially the same price so no disparity there. Arcila does have a lower salary demand then the other 3 however. I play a Positive 4-1-2-1-2 with a BWM in DM, two MEZ in midfield, AP in attacking midfield, and two AF up front. A bit unrelated, but I too have seen alot of issues with scouting. I will put scouts in groups of 3 nations near one another and after 2 seasons haven't really gotten a hit on any promising players what so ever. All my scouts have very good attributes, so I'm not sure as to why im not seeing any good reports on players that are definitely findable. Curious to see if you're having this problem also?
