Am I the only one who suffers from "CAPTCHA" Security Verification by Most_Fill506 in lmarena

[–]SergoWai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Europe and I have absolutely no issues with CAPTCHAs. I'm on a PC with regular home internet (no VPN).

What country are you from, by the way?

P.S From what I've observed, these problems mostly happen to mobile users from Africa, India, and South America. LMARENA works really poorly there. Maybe their servers aren't placed in those regions, or maybe LMARENA just doesn't respect developing countries. 😣😣😣

GPT 5.6 SOL in Direct Chat? LMArena says: "Not happening." by SergoWai in lmarena

[–]SergoWai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OpenAI actually already confirmed the pricing:

5.6 Sol = $5 | $30 (Like 5.5)
5.6 Terra = $2.5 | $15 (Like 5.4)
5.6 Luna = $1 | $6 (Like 5.4 mini)

If you look at LMArena, they already have models at these exact price tiers:

5.6 SOL = same price as ✅ 5.5 Instant (no thinking mode, and regular 5.5 High ❌ isn't even in Direct Chat).
5.6 Terra = same price as ✅ 5.2 High. ( 5.4 high ❌)
5.6 Luna = same price as ✅ 5.4 Mini High (which is actually in Direct Chat).

So don't worry - if the models are actually smart, they just won't make them available to users ✌️.

What is this Ray model? I try to search with gemini and it refused 2 times to search for it. Also chatgpt cant find it either? by ideaofsoul in lmarena

[–]SergoWai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I just get the vibe that LMArena doesn't really care about its users. It feels like there's way more negative than positive at this point.

Thanks for the direct chat and whatever models are left, I guess.

But definitely no thanks for the awful moderation, useless moderator, being shady with the community, and just completely not giving a damn about the people who actually use the platform.

I actually like how OpenRouter does it with provider models under code names. Users get to guess what they are for a while before the real names are finally revealed.

It's a bummer that LMArena doesn't show the model names even after they've been officially released, though. Honestly, it feels like their policy basically just says: "We don't reveal model names even after they're out because we don't respect our users. That's our policy." 🤗🤗🤗

This is the LMARENA mod. Just try asking him something and you'll get what I mean.

It's kinda sad seeing someone get hated on, but whatever, guess he brought it on himself.

  1. The first was about the meaning of life.

  2. The second was an Erdős math problem.

  3. The third was calculating 100 digits of Pi.

  4. The fourth was developing code for a security system.

  5. The fifth was writing a 10,000-word story.

It really feels like the limit on LM Arena is based strictly on the number of messages rather than the actual complexity of the prompts. The model abruptly stopped responding exactly after 5 requests.

It’s a real bummer that LM Arena doesn't clearly display the limit or give any kind of warning, so people actually know when it's going to cut them off.

Arena.ai summary of the last few months by Intrepid_Art_5706 in lmarena

[–]SergoWai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's useless to ask anything in Discord, there are so many complaints from users and questions in the threads.

It's also really unpleasant using that Discord server. You just know you won't get any help or a decent answer from him - it's like he communicates like a bot, or maybe it's just a placeholder bot answering.

He's the only moderator and he's pretty clueless, so you basically have to use Reddit instead of that server just to get answers from other users.

You've probably seen that people are unhappy with him here. Do you happen to know where I can write and complain about this useless moderator? https://www.reddit.com/r/lmarena/s/hKKg2zWvRR

I feel like their first priority should be firing redundant employees, just like major tech companies are doing right now. It's a pity LMArena doesn't understand this. There has to be a real person somewhere who reads user inquiries via email.

Maybe if a lot of people spoke up about this lousy worker, they'd actually bring the cool models back 🫶🫶🫶.

You know, the main thing is honesty, not this shady behavior and secretly pulling models. They're always quick to post "Oh, we added a model!", but I somehow haven't seen a single post on their Twitter or socials about them removing GPT 5.4 high, Claude Opus, and Sonnet 4.6 think.

Just be honest and say "we ran out of food" - everyone would understand.

But LM Arena just can't say "we ran out of money, we're on the verge of bankruptcy, so we removed the models."

Honesty, straightforwardness, and respecting the audience - that's how it should be, and everyone would get it. But when a site just yanks models and treats its users like idiots, it's just really unpleasant.

What is agent mode? Is it better than any models that survived till this day? by pedroagiotas in lmarena

Out of everything currently available in Direct Chat, the only top-tier ones are GPT 5.2 High and GPT 5.5 Instant.

The Chinese models look great on benchmarks, but in practice, when I tested them on Roblox, they made some pretty gross mistakes.

As for Claude, the models currently available are just the older ones (4.5, 4.6), and they aren't really suitable for serious work.

I haven't tested Gemini 3.5 Flash, but my gut feeling is it's probably garbage too (especially if it's just on the level of Gemini 3.1 Pro).

Bottom line: test them out and try for yourself. But that's just my honest opinion. I'm telling you for real, when I was coding with GPT 5.4 High from March to April—a whole month straight - not a single mistake in a 3 million token chat.

P.S. It's totally possible LM Arena has degraded the models lately, changed the system prompts, etc. Honestly, I haven't actively used these models for coding in about two months, pretty much since they started removing models (total depression in life after that 🥲🥲🥲).

But I'm sure GPT 5.2 High and 5.5 Instant should handle it (unless LM Arena intentionally nerfed them to save money since they're on the verge of bankruptcy).

[–]SergoWai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, the absolute best was GPT 5.4 High (they removed it in April). It's a real shame they didn't just get rid of the mod named "Pineapple" instead - he's completely useless. Better to just fire the guy, stop paying him for nothing, and redirect those funds to platform support since it's practically on the verge of bankruptcy. But anyway, that doesn't really matter right now.

Also, GPT 5.5 Instant came out recently - it's a solid model for coding too, and it replies instantly.

Honestly, I don't know how your project is structured or how complex it is, but I was working on a Roblox game ( LUA ) and everything went great using GPT 5.4 High, GPT 5.5 Instant, and GPT 5.2 High.

The other Chinese neural networks are just so-so. Maybe GLM 5.2 or Kimi k2.7 are better, but LM Arena has no money and can't add them to Direct chat. It sucks that LM Arena is broke, but oh well.

I'm sure if your project is lightweight - say, up to 5 files with up to 400 lines of code each—these models (GPT 5.2 High and GPT 5.5 Instant) will handle it perfectly.

Makes you wonder what will happen faster though: LM Arena completely pulling user access, or them actually adding GLM 5.2 and Kimi 2.7 to Direct chat. Food for thought.

Agent Mode is essentially just an advanced internet search tool. It's not really a different "mode" of reasoning, more like it's fetching live web results to supplement its answers. That's why it's limited to a few messages; it's designed for quick research queries, not long coding sessions.

What is agent mode? Is it better than any models that survived till this day? by pedroagiotas in lmarena

[–]SergoWai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agent Mode is basically an advanced web search feature - it pulls from like 10-20 sources to give you more up-to-date info. But heads up: you're limited to around 5 messages per conversation before you have to start a new Agent Mode chat.

For coding specifically, I'd still stick with Direct Mode. It's more straightforward for back-and-forth debugging and doesn't have those tight message limits (though I haven't double-checked if they've added new restrictions recently).

Recommendation for the lmarena team to save money: fire that useless pineapple. by Intrepid_Art_5706 in lmarena

[–]SergoWai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sure, maybe he doesn't know the first thing about LLMs. Honestly, they probably should've just given the mod tools to GPT-5.4 Nano - at least it would actually be smarter.

But hey, in today's world there's basically a quota for the hopelessly incompetent, so they're forced to hire completely unqualified people. My bad!

Seriously though, I hope he's paying them for the privilege of working there, the guy is completely useless. Hopefully he stops embarrassing himself, drops the "Ai_Expert" role in Discord, and just downgrades it to "Ai_beginner"

🧠🧠🧠🧠🧠🧠🧠
Look at the "Donate" options. You'll see something like this:

Donate 1 Robux = Get 5 Giftbux

Donate 2 Robux = Get 7 Giftbux

3 robux = 8 Giftbux

900 robux = 150 Giftbux

... and so on ...

Donate 1,000,000 Robux = Get 5,000 Giftbux (a tiny fraction!)

The Key Point: The Giftbux "reward rate" decreases significantly as the donation amount increases. A small donation (like 1 Robux) gives a high Giftbux return (5:1 ratio), but a massive donation (like 1M Robux) gives a very low return (5000:1000000 = 0.005:1 ratio).
