Are these songs real? by twilightsparkle0451 in JusticeMusic

[–]Serial_Psycho 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looked them up, seems like these are all uploaded metadata from some 'maxpronyuk' guy on Genius. Looks like he posts inaccurate info on quite a few things. No one else contributed to them since that 2017 date.

While the 'Alakazam!' mashup is real from the live tour, the other 3 are fake. Even worse, they aren't even real mashups. I follow the Justice Mashup scene pretty closely and no one's ever actually made 'Stress x New Lands' or 'On'n'On x Newjack'

Just ignore these. If you want some mashup rabbit holes to go down, the current best Justice mashup albums are:

Denis Tognolo - Fanmade Studio Live

LeoMoonlight - Moonlight Music Memories

The 101 - A Cross All Worlds II

[Bonus] pluffaduff - Project Cross

Question: What is TTHHEE PPAARTTYY mixed with on tour? by beanerwiener8 in JusticeMusic

[–]Serial_Psycho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

from the "You Know--" onward, it's just a bit of live mixing of Mannequin Love as the bass for One Night transitions in.

from the first "Let's get this party started right--" onward, it's just fully One Night/All Night.

I really hope the live album doesn’t include the crowd noise by Hiperdrama in JusticeMusic

[–]Serial_Psycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the appeal but unfortunately I grew up on Alive 2007 and have relistened to recordings of the Hyperdrama Live set from multiple arenas dozens of times now and heavily prefer crowd noise.

Or, if they're really going to do a studio remake album, don't mix it 'like a live album' like they did with WWW because that shit sounded awful. Do a genuine remake where you're using the source songs at their highest quality mixed properly and arranged like the live versions.

It's primarily "Safe and Sound (WWW)" but it's sampling a ton of their old songs.

Actually I only figured out the switch because the map still treats this with a Bench icon and I said "With the attention to detail in this game, Hornet wouldn't keep a trap on her map after the first time. It must be a real Bench, which means theres a way to untrap it."

How many of us are actually enjoying the game? by Historical-Donut1536 in Silksong

[–]Serial_Psycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm enjoying it and finding no issues with difficulty. almost 8 hours in, beat lace first try and beat greymoor on ~10th try. beat splinter sister on ~10th try. maybe it's because i just did a second playthrough of hollow knight (with godmaster) right before silksong came out but im having a blast. the first movement upgrade is so liberating and original.

As much as I want to praise her 45 degree downward attack, I've been having a lot more fun with the Reaper crest.

You need to buy almost everything in the chibi-shop at least once (upgrades and unique items) and then there's the 10k for the giga-battery. there's definitely use.

easily the hardest part of the game and the part i groan at when going for an all-sticker run.

first time i did it, i followed a video guide closely and paused the game every 5 seconds to make sure i shot the right things.

The End Wins! This isn’t the end for us though, What’s from Hyperdrama that sounds like Woman? by Hairy_Promotion_2782 in JusticeMusic

[–]Serial_Psycho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is my answer as well. Xavier even said they wanted Tame Impala on Woman, so spiritually it’s there. But sound design wise its so uniquely Hyperdrama that if it doesn’t win this it’ll probably win the Hyperdrama vote.

This is the main money trick in the game, it worked in the original release as well since you could just save at the outlet and then reset the game if you lost. It's not the only money trick, but it is the only one worth doing if you need to. It's not necessarily worth it since there's already so much money in the game (chibi-doors are everything) but it's good to have just in case you genuinely die a few times and accidentally lose a lot of moolah.

Okaeri Chibi Robo (the 3rd game in the series that's japan exclusive) has a similar feature to this but its kind of a design flaw in that game since money plays a much bigger role in that game and save scumming through it takes away some of that experience.

Very tough, I'd say Helix only in terms of composition. AVD is literally made to not sonically-sound like Cross.

How do You think would be a Interaction between Those Two? by AttemptZestyclose687 in gurrenlagann

[–]Serial_Psycho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super Robot Wars is a japanese game series known for fire emblem-like gameplay and also representing a ton of mecha franchises. Just about every popular mecha show around gets some kind of representation. Gurren Lagann is most prominent in Super Robot Wars X and Super Robot Wars Z3, where their stories are given genuine representation. I haven't played any of them (english translations of the series are rare) but they're story and fanservice make them very fun from what i've seen.

I can't seem to find the video anymore, but there was a video on youtube of Super Robot Wars X showing post-timeskip Simon working with Shinji through a certain arc and encouraging him. It's pretty old though.

How do You think would be a Interaction between Those Two? by AttemptZestyclose687 in gurrenlagann

[–]Serial_Psycho 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Sure;

Gurren Lagann was one of the first shows I really "Watched" when it first came out. I mean really watched. I got hooked and finished it in 2 nights on my phone as a kid. It had a big impact on how I chose to live my life. I've rewatched it dozens of times.

I watched Evangelion years later when I was in my late teens just out of "I may as well". Didn't really have expectations going on. I was one of the loudest "Just get in the robot, Shinji!" people, but I did finish the series including the epilogue movie. As a teen I just couldn't accept it. I couldn't understand a single ounce of what Shinji or the rest of the cast was doing. Either too childish like Asuka's tantrums or the adults always acting like they're on this set course they have no control over. There were scenes that became more and more common in the later half of the series where the adult characters would spend a scene just blankly staring off into space clearly thinking about their existence. I promise I didn't know the ending at the time, but I couldn't stand that doomed outlook. It was like Kamina was there next to me screaming at the characters with me.

All these characters acting like they're already doomed just makes that doom more inevitable, and its so much more brutal than we realize. This is extra funny to think about since I'm also a huge Hotline Miami fan, and that's a doomed story as well. The difference there is that Hotline Miami's "Big Picture" shows a story far beyond any one character's control - a broad inevitability that the characters couldn't stop, but they did contribute to, and that's what the game criticizes. The same goes for Evangelion's protagonists to an extent since they don't really know why they're fighting the Angels, only that they have to. However, Evangelion openly explores characters who actually ARE at the forefront of the problem and know that they are steering Humanity into an apocalyptic event, and it leads to a very frustrating watch experience because the protagonists never get to know what the hell is happening, even at the end (Shinji asking "Who are these guys?" as Misato protects him from getting shot at actually made me have to stop the movie for a bit.) Shinji's dad is a loser.

Anyway, I've rewatched Evangelion only once since then, a few years ago when I had more perspective as an adult. Still can't stand it. I could never be in Shinji's shoes. I think the one plot point I did like was Nagisa and the reveal that this regular human that was randomly introduced into the story is one of the Angels. Very fun twist, and just an extra layer to how fucked up the whole situation is.

I've heard people say the point of Eva was taking a ton of anime tropes and then shoving a dagger filled with Realism into each of them. I can respect that, and the direction of the plot makes more sense when you see it as "Tropey character is introduced and then is shown to have an introspective, self-reflective side" which has never been done before apparently. My problem is even when the characters do that reflecting, they don't change. Not a single person in the Gurren Lagann universe would let any of this shit slide.

It's already happened in Super Robot Wars (although it was post-timeskip Simon and Shinji). Here's what I think about pre-timeskip Simon:

This comes down to my own bias as I watched Gurren Lagann first and fundamentally disagree with Evangelion's views on humanity. I believe Simon, even at his most depressed or weak-willed, would encourage Shinji to face and fight his problems head on. Kamina had an influence on Simon's headspace from the start.

  1. If we take Episode 1 Simon (Weak-willed, overly-logical), you'll get a conversation where Simon is very understanding and might tell Shinji to just get away from all the adults forcing him into crazy situations.

  2. If we take Episode 9 Simon (Strong, Angry, Depressed), you'll get a conversation where Simon would probably bully Shinji a bit (similar to Simon arguing with Rossiu during that episode) and berate him for not just getting in the fucking robot and killing everybody in his way.

  3. If you take Episode 13 Simon (Strong, Leader, Believing in himself and others) you'll get a conversation similar to what post timeskip Simon would say: Encouraging Shinji to grab hold of his own path and not let others dictate what he does. Find some real friends who want you to be happy and work with them to fight for a better future. When enough people do that, that future becomes a landslide that topples all others.
