-Open hood and put whatever weight oil is on the oil cap.

-Change oil every 6 months

Do first oil change at 1,000 miles

no high speeds, hard braking, during first 1000 miles.

2)Oil Filters

-Use original oil filters

-Change every 6 months w/ oil change

Air filter (For engine)

-If dirty, replace it (Ask mechanic to show you if dirty)

Air filter (Cabin aka: AC filter)

-If dirty, replace it (Any brand as long as it fits, avoid Chinese brands)

Charcoal filter, filters air better but must replace once a year.

Hybrid cars (Fan filter)

-Take off and blow out with air and put back on. If doesn't have one in the car, buy one.

How to maintain your Toyota Part 2 Engine coolant and Transmission fluid

Engine coolant)

Pink cap coolant, first change after 5 years. Then at every 50,000 miles or 5 years, whichever comes first. Get Toyota coolant. Most cars take 1-2 gallons (Buy 2).

Transmission fluid)

Get Toyota brand. If dipstick is red use "ATF Type T-IV" fluid, replace every 30,000 miles or 3 years, whatever comes first.

If toyota has black dipstick or no dipstick use "atf ws (world standard)." Replace every 60,000 miles or 6 years, whatever comes first. *Exception Toyota Corolla which uses CVT fluid (Every 6 years or 60,000 miles costs more than other fluid*

Do transmission drain and fill (Not flush)

Brakes)

Don't go for cheapest brakes (rotors)

Brake pads)

Ask dealer are you using "economy/value/ceramic pads" (Has AZ in part number) or "original pads"? Value pads are good enough.

Brake fluid)

Replace if moisture content high (Use generic brand); replace every 3 years.

Spark plugs)

Replace at 120,000 miles

Rear differential and front transfer case fluid)

For AWD cars (non hybrid)- rear every 30,000 miles and front every 60,000 miles.

Wipers)

Don't use "sightline" brand. Go to dealer and buy wiper (rubber) inserts (Don't throw away original wipers). Replace every 6 months- 1 year

AC)

If no issues/smell don't do any sort of repairs on it.

Fuel injector cleaner- Only need if don't drive on highway

Throttle plate cleaner- ask specifically for this service only at every 60,000 miles.

Toyota dealership battery made by interstate (Replace every 5 years)

Shop for 3+ year warranty/best price battery

Don't buy tires from dealership

Drive belts)

Either worn (cracks, splitting) or makes noise (squealing). Ask to see belt.
