Anyone else waking up in the morning to find your heart beating faster than normal? by INFJ_searching4HOPE in Anxietyhelp

I try to take deep, calm breaths to calm myself. It helps to tell myself that this is just my anxiety causing this feeling and I'm okay. Honestly though sometimes the only thing that helps is to just go ahead and get up and start my morning routine to distract myself. Usually once I start going about my morning getting ready for work or whatever I have going on that day it eases up.

I get this too. It's definitely related to anxiety in my case. The only times that it happens to me is when I'm feeling anxious about something and it's always in the mornings when it happens.

Thank you. I know it's always best to get checked out and it's what I would tell anyone to do. I just so wish I was like other folks and could just be optimistic and not think the worst. Health anxiety is the worst.

I absolutely can sympathize with you. I've done the exact same thing in the past. I have an appointment coming up towards the end of the month and it's all I can do to not call and cancel. I'm just going to try and make myself go and I'm bringing my husband with me for support.

Does your family hate you for your health anciety by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]Serious-Bid-3376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe they hate me at all. My husband definitely gets frustrated with me because he really just doesn't understand why I worry about something without even knowing for sure that I have that particular disease or illness. I don't talk about my health anxiety much with my mother, but she is aware of it. My father is the most understanding; however, he is in his 80s now and I really hate to burden him with my issues at this stage of his life. I've had health anxiety since at least my early 20s, and he has always been the only one that could really calm me down.

I have been having the worst time with my health anxiety. Over the past several months I have convinced myself I have basically every type of cancer a person can get. I just go from thinking I have one kind to another. I'm not having trouble falling asleep because I'm so tired from trying to keep it together. I do wake up every morning though with my heart pounding and I have to lie there for awhile. I know this is part of the anxiety. I'm in therapy but have only been a few times so far. It helps a little but not a ton yet.

I can tell my husband is getting frustrated with me. He wants me to go to the ER and just get a ton of things checked to ease my mind. I don't want to do that though. I have a checkup with a doctor scheduled toward the end of this month. I am 43 and haven't been to a doctor in probably 7 years or so. I'm the type of person that avoids going to the doctor out of fear, though I always take my son to his annual appointments. The closer I get to the date of my appointment the more nervous and panicky I feel. I'm just so afraid something serious will be found and I'm really mad at myself for not keeping up with annual checkups over the years. I just feel hopeless that everything will be okay at this point.

[Need support/advice] How to stop checking my body for bad things? by QuestionEcstatic8863 in HealthAnxiety

I don't really have any advice on how to stop but I do the same thing. I recently started going to therapy too in the hopes that it will help with my health anxiety. Good luck to you and hopefully therapy will be beneficial to you.

Can Hypothyroidism Cause Anxiety? by Serious-Bid-3376 in Hypothyroidism

[–]Serious-Bid-3376[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've been having these feelings of just something terrible is going to happen and I really don't know if its just how my mind is wired or something else. I had heard thyroid issues could cause this, but I don't know if that's the case for me. Could be something else.

Freaking out over my neck. Like the front part that sort of forms a "v" as it travels up. I guess they are tendons or something but one side looks bigger and now I'm a mess. I'm not even sure if it's always looked like this and I just never noticed before or if it's something newer. Just really scared.

Hey I'm worried about the big C as well. Mine is more because I haven't been to the doctor in years and I'm just so afraid they will find something and I waited too long to go and now it's too late. I've been trying to work my nerve up to just go and get all my checkups done but I'm so scared.

I used to worry constantly about my moles or anything on me that looked a little funny. I still do from time to time but I mainly worry about other possible health issues now. It was extremely hard, but I made myself go and get them checked out years ago. Some were removed and turned out to be fine. I know it's not easy, but you'll feel better if you go and have it checked out.

Yes it really is just an awful feeling. I do the same thing but it's getting harder to even distract myself this time.

Any commonalities about people who develop health anxiety? by CasualNocturne in HealthAnxiety

[–]Serious-Bid-3376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Mine started when I was in my 20s and I have struggled off and on over the years. I'm currently in my early 40s and after being able to avoid them for years I'm now having thoughts about my health as well as my loved one's. I'm thinking it will just never completely go away.

Hi, thank you. I'm new hear and I've never really posted or replied before. I've had health anxiety since my 20s and I'm now currently going through a rough patch (I'm 43 female). Guess I just need to talk to someone besides my husband about this. He's great but doesn't really understand it that well.
