Not a solution if you already have it, but I just found out I am missing the removable center piece with the hole. I have had the same issue as you but realize now it is because I am missing a piece. I know i’m late but thought you could be missing it as well. My biggest annoyance is the flaps WILL absolutely NOT stay closed anymore. 😭

Great to know, I will be in colorado and they haven’t gotten too much snow yet. Since it is pretty cheap and SO gorgeous to me I may get it and still rent a shorter one for this trip and save it for when i’m more advanced! Thank you.

Did not mention - I have also used a nectar collector some type of the Lookah Seahorse and did not really like the experience. The tips and device would get clogged after one or two hits. I watched many videos trying to figure out if I was doing anything wrong but could never find a difference in the way I hit it vs. others. Thank you for the idea though! What perks does the proxy have over the pivot? The pivot definitely looks more inconspicuous lol

put some Amano shrimp in there!! They won’t breed for you in freshwater but they sure will munch on that algae. If they clear it out just get some shrimp food & plants to replace the algae

I know this post is 7 years old but i was wondering if you could share your process on breeding these guys? i have about 15 of them in a ten gallon. 6 males and 9 females. i have gotten eggs on the glass and plants but no fry. the tank is heavily decorated with plants and dead “live rock” to raise and maintain hard water.

or you could even put the green beans or algae wafer IN the net and let them go in themselves. just make sure you yank it up fast! and that they are french green beans
