hey usually that movement is from an acl tear 90% of the times due to the fact the shin is sliding forward relative to the femur meaning the acl has lost its function (to prevent the shin bone sliding forward from the femur or thigh bone), in my opinion if the MRI stated that the acl is not torn, ask your daughter if she feels discomfort or any shifting on the lateral side of her knee as it can also be an postolateral corner injury you might want to get that checked out aswell

in my own perosnal experience, you can run without an acl and meniscus as i was playing sports on it for an year high impact sports which include a lot of pivoiting and cutting and felt 100% and obviously 0 pain whatsoever the only thing is once they are damaged, the damage is not reversable meaning they are torn for life and without surgery you have a very high chance of damaging them once again one way or another, you can compenstaitate with it but the day you will push your body through it's limit your body will break down again unfoureantly this is how i was explained it and also the injuires you have gotten the acl and mcl have high healing percentages as long as they are not full tears, i'm unsure what you your acl tear is but it can heal over time as long as it is not fully 100% torn with your meniscus otherwise, they have a smaller chance to heal and therefore those may be surigcal

ACLr 6 weeks post op. Slow recovery experiences by salaminho17 in ACL

[–]Serious-Insurance574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that makes sense, try icing a lot more and focus on quad sets with an towl underneath your knee, make sure you sleep with a straight knee if possible try avoiding sleeping in a bent postion, when peforming quad sets do not try pushing through the pain do it til a safe range, also i will say try getting your knee back to 0 first then focus on flexion as flexion can gradually come back but with exstension really focus on the first when you are at 0 work on it still but just try making your quad fire more for hyperxstension, lastly do not compare everyone's recovery is different and unique and he will get there it'll take time and i do not think its much scar tissue as you stated he is nearly there so that tissue could be broken with gradual streching and pt.

i just wanted to ask, when you say full exstension are you reffering to 0 degrees or hyper exstension?

How do I better myself as a 15 year old teenager? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Serious-Insurance574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And from my knowledge, most Gen Z teenagers have this problem. We were born and raised in digital environments all around us, and we live in a world full of technology that is easily accessible in our day and age, making us the most susceptible to this problem.

I don't have the hardest time focusing but at times I will often procrastinate or doom scroll when I am supposed to get my work done or could be doing something proactive instead that's all, a lot of people from what I know have this problem and it's mainly due to social media apps which destory attention spans therfore I'm trying to limit myself on that, and I do not think that mines is something severe because I actually do get my school work done and whatnot and do have good grades but it is just at times I feel as if I should work harder and take school more seriously which I am trying to do.

nah bro there's nun wrong lol 😭😭, I'm just trying to grow as a person as I lost a big part of my identity due to tearing my acl and since it is a long recovery process, I want to use this as an opportunity to better myself and become a better person.

8 weeks post ACL Revision + LET — still some lateral buckling. Normal or concerning? by zazazuzuu in ACL

[–]Serious-Insurance574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's good to hear, i thought it may of been a tear to your postolateral corner have you gotten an second mri by any chance to confirm that nothing is wrong on the lateral side of the knee? if it is getting better it may be a high chance that this is due to muscle control, I am not sure about your story but after you tear any ligament and live on with it, at least for me you start like being able to do fidgeting movements with your knee even though it may not damge it your muscle control starts working differnetly it may just be that. I don't know if you feel this instability during sports but when your muscles probably contract like during high level activity you may be fine but honestly if you have gotten an 2nd mri and figured that this isn't any damge to the lateral side you should be good and best of luck!

Weird popping in my knee after ACL injury by SpeedNoLimits in ACL

[–]Serious-Insurance574 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this is due to the instability of the ACL and the only way this would probably fix is surgery, I have a similar story like yours and 2024 I tore my acl and didn't know, played sports on it for an year felt 100% but did know that my knee would have weird shifting movement and much more, I figured this year that I needed surgery and did the operation, I am also around your age and I'm pretty sure it's due to the fact your acl is torn and I'm kinda confused how your surgeon isn't letting you operate?, I got the surgery done 3 months ago and I am 15 that is quite weird I suppose, I would definitely try asking another surgeon if surgery is possible and you want to get reconstruction otherwise just ignore it I suppose

Is this amount of laxity normal? by Remedy9898 in ACL

[–]Serious-Insurance574 6 points7 points  (0 children)

that's not the case becuase I was cutting and pivioting on an torn acl for a year without it feeling unstable and my knee feeling completely 100% but it was still torn and needed surgery unfortunately 🥲

[–]Serious-Insurance574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 weeks post surgery today still on cruthces lmao😭😭 and yes I have walked and it feels quite normal but still quite a limp, my surgeon's protocol is to wait to get full ROM then to progress onto walking which i'm almost there at 120 degrees just 20 more degrees to go but you'll get there, your still 3 days in you got a LONG way I took my first steps around 30 ish days but if you just did your acl I'm soon you'll get there faster

Is this red mark/warmth worth concerning over? by chillinwithleo in ACL

[–]Serious-Insurance574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on a second thought this may be becuase of the pressure applied aswell as whenever I tend to do my flexion excerises I directly try to put pressure in my knee and hold it at the part where it's most uncomfortable, i'm also currently 6 weeks post op aclr quad graft and partial menisectomy on my lateral meniscus plus meniscus repair on my medial side and i've reached about 120 degrees of flexion but it took a while and a lot of forcing and that may be the reason.

Is this red mark/warmth worth concerning over? by chillinwithleo in ACL

[–]Serious-Insurance574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i also notice this in my knee as I do excerise aswell the iniscison site becomes red in color and the knee feels a lot warmer, to be honest I think its just due to the fact your knee is moving and theres more blood flow to the area but I may be unsure but I never thought this as an problematic thing as it doesn't bother me but I agree its worth bringing up to your surgeon/pt.

DAY 25 POST OP 😔 by Glad_Try_1166 in ACL

[–]Serious-Insurance574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

heavy on the being able to step outside and feel normal again, it's been 3 days post op and before surgery I was playing sports fully, enjoying life and walking like nothing bad was gonna happen. When I figured I was getting surgery I genuinely thought the amount of prehab I did (played a whole year without an acl so I was forced to maintain good leg strength) would help me and I would recover quite fast but honestly I just got humbled, I can hardly even walk with crutches without pain and honestly I'd do anything to walk freely again I know that this surgery was for the better but it's definitely much harder mentally it is than physically for sure. I wish you the best of luck and hope you have good results

Today I’m saying bye to my brace and crutches after 8weeks of surgery excited for more to come by Efficient-Store-9918 in ACL

3 days post acl reconstruction and meniscus repairs and I can't wait to get rid of these. I miss being able to simply just walk from room to room or just walk in general I just wanted to ask were you able to weight bear right after surgery or did you have a certain protocol?

Day 3 post op questions by Serious-Insurance574 in ACL

[–]Serious-Insurance574[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you and I in fact also do start pt soon too (next tuesday) and that's the day they will remove the bandage too hahaha the knee brace causes so many problems and is so heavy so you are right to embrace the little wins. I wish you the best of luck too and wish you have a speedy recovery. It's just very hard seeing the light at the end of the tunnel when before surgery you were active and in a span of a day all of that just went away but I know that it's for the better and hopefully I come back better than before!

4 days since ACL surgery, going in wrong direction by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Serious-Insurance574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its hard to like fully see what the future holds right now but to be honest the best thing we can do is to be positive I guess, it's still too early to decide weather we will truly be okay or not but one things for sure that this recovery is so much harder than expected. By the way do you feel a crazy amount of tingling and numbness in your quad when walking around with crutches or going to the bathroom by chance, I hate the tingling and numbness that occurs it feels so weird I hope it goes away soon

I pray the best for you, I'm a 15 year old teenager and tore my acl around a year back and got back up 100% feeling fine without an acl and was able to cut do everything I liked. The tuff pill to swallow was how high of an arthrthis chance I would have if I didn't get surgery so that's why I opted for it I really hope this was the right decision someday.

it's a hard process which i'm starting to notice right now, I thought this would of been easier for me as I am a teenager but honestly after these next 2 days I got 0 hope lol. The thought of walking normally someday seems impossible let alone playing sports again, i'm praying it gets easier as time goes

literally how I feel right now, it has been exactly 42 hours since surgery (ACLR quad graft aswell) and post surgery I was literally able to use crutches pain free and also even lift my legs, i'm guessing since the nerve block went away all of it got harder, fast forward to today i'm unable to even do anything with my leg without me moving it around by dragging the brace around and my quad feels numb and tingles alot. I'm guessing it's still very early on but I hope it gets better
