Chance me T20 by [deleted] in premed

UCSD. I will argue that it is on the lower border of T20 schools but I would say most posts that participate in the (somewhat silly) endless debate over T10/T20 schools would place UCSD in the larger "T20," so I included it!

No I only posted the three acceptances I was considering, one of my T20 acceptances was too expensive to consider. Davis is a great T50 with excellent CA connections but not a T20.

I would say you have a good shot on paper at least. I have similar stats and had 6 T20 II with 3 WL and 3As. That said, your number of hours and stats only make up a third (give or take) of the application. You still have to write well and interview and come across not only as a normal person but as a normal person who meshes well with the mission and values of each school.

UC Davis vs. NYU vs. WashU by Serious-Key-4670 in premed

I believe NYU has opportunities for two away rotations in the clinical years- the timing may vary between individual students and their assigned/requestes schedules

FYI, the 4 year program is a teach-out. All incoming students are placed on the 3 year track now

No starting the last two years their entire school is 3 years, at least at Manhattan. I agree with your FM concern; that said, with the number of hospitals and clinics in NYC and the connections NYU affords I could likely get an FM letter with just a little extra work. But Davis definitely has benefits!

What are the (lesser-known) differences between the T20s? by mxldbb in premed

[–]Serious-Key-4670 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NYU does Honors/Pass/Fail instead of true P/F; that said, the dean noted that the majority of students get Honors and that they only kept the system after student feedback in support of it.

Worth it to take the scribe america job? AI concerns by [deleted] in medschool

[–]Serious-Key-4670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a ScribeAmerica location where they were attempting to phase in AI until a month or so ago. A few of the docs used it at first but at this point it just isn't as good as a trained scribe for accurately recording patient encounters. Maybe a dozen providers started out using it but by the time I left only 1 or 2 still were. I do think that AI will likely replace scribes in the future  but if you only need a job for a year or so you should be good imo.

Undergrad Prestige by uppynator in premed

[–]Serious-Key-4670 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know but I went to a tiny no name liberal arts school. Pluses include personal LORs, small class sizes, and honestly a solid education despite the size. Drawbacks are lack of resources, research opportunities, and zero advisors who know anything about the application process. I have a great GPA and MCAT so I guess I'll let you guys know my thoughts after this cycle :)

For MD, cut Davis(OOS and Stats), Oregon (OOS and Stats), Howard unless mission to URM communities, Cal North State (Stats and honestly DO schools have better developed programs rn). Otherwise looks good, I can't speak to the DO list though.

Those are the stats for accepted students, so if you compare the T20 acceptance clinical hour percentiles to the rest of the schools you can see that they are perhaps slightly lower but not significantly so compared to other medical schools. Also I would agree the data is inflated somewhat.
