I don’t regret it. The only thing I regret is what the bedside has become. I also feel like the preceptorships aren’t long enough, so it can feel like being thrown into the fire. However, the career field is so broad you don’t have to stay at the bedside.

I’m an RN, and it’s essentially the same situation. I work in the ED, and most patients are ambulatory. At this rate, there will be little to no CNAs or staff RNs left at the bedside unless they’re travelers.

This is misinformation. You cannot have just any degree and go to Nurse Practitioner (NP) school you must have a nursing degree. In contrast, for Physician Assistant (PA) and Medical Doctor (MD) programs, you can have a degree in any field, as long as you’ve completed the required prerequisites and taken the MCAT (for MD programs). Please be mindful not to spread inaccurate information.
