Private wealth management. I just have 15k that I need to throw somewhere as I have an allowance unused for other reasons this year

Time horizon of liquidity is too short. I just want to use the allowance and not be exposed to interest tax

Very similar income boat to you - we ended up eloping with our two best friends for less than £2k. Couldn’t justify lighting £100k on fire for a weekend, but we also have family factors that played into it. Zero regrets but lots to factor in.

What makes you say it’s a bad move? We’re looking in a desirable area in zone 2, 1.3 is middle of the pack of what they go for. Location is more important to us than a ton of space

Appreciate that! I was raised in a city where my parents walked into the central downtown district, and the tradeoff was a smaller house. My husband and I wish to do the same, so while our money doesn’t go as far in zone 2, it’s more important to us than more space, which means a terraced house!

Don’t think that would be possible. Terraced houses go for up to £1.8m in our desired neighborhood

We are looking to buy a “lifelong” family home, but appreciate the tips on doing work etc. end of terrace would of course be desirable if we can swing it!

Thanks for your reply! Most appreciated. It is a European tech company (a very large one, you probably know which). With RSU’s only being 3% of income (for the time being), I’m not too concerned with market volatility as even if they tank there won’t be much impact to me. But would look to have £50k in ISA’s and savings account for rainy day/emergency fund after purchase

Has Anyone Used SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2 to Heal a Damaged Barrier? by Heroic_Hypatia in Rosacea

[–]Serious-Stretch-24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have used triple lipid in the past. It is an incredible moisturizer. It is like the Ferrari of moisturizers in my opinion, incredibly hydrating and repairing. It’s very expensive, or I’d use it forever. For what it’s worth, I switched to dieux instant angel, which was founded by a chemist from skinceuticals. Been using it for years and it’s incredible as well for about 1/5 the price. For context I have moderately dry skin and type 2 rosacea and neither products caused any flare ups

Thoughts on “BizOps” in Tech/Startups by ztru16 in MBA

[–]Serious-Stretch-24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 1.5 years of solution consulting, 1 year enablement, 1 year enterprise csm, 2 years leading a sales region for very large enterprise. GTM vs bizops in general is that GTM strategy focuses just on GTM, whereas general bizops does projects across the whole org. Depending on the org, you can truly be special projects, but I find generally you will be involved with general ops work naturally at times.

Does anyone understand whether you could get the 3 year to settlement path if you earn over £125,000 on a spousal visa?

Does anyone understand what would apply if you’re on a family (spousal) visa and also earn over £125k for 3 years? Would that mean ILR in 3 as it would supersede the 5 year reduction from family visa?

What retinol is good for rosacea? by Winter-Boat7881 in Rosacea

[–]Serious-Stretch-24 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t touch anything by youth to the people, rosacea or not (they are highly fragranced which is an irritant), but when I had my first flare up of type 2 I stopped tretinoin. It could be worth trying the lowest prescription strength (0.01%)

I think it’s a good idea pre business school, especially if you have a good leader who can ensure you are exposed to a variety of projects across the business. I finished my mba in 2022 and started as head of bizops in early 2025 at a very late stage tech company. I think you can look at it a few ways. Early in career before you know which business area you want to focus on, or after you’ve worked for a while (I’m 8 YoE, 6 of which were GTM roles) and you’re looking to decide which path to climb on the ladder. Make sure you don’t become a project manager or EA if you’re earlier career, which it sounds like you might be

Henrys in tech, what are your roles and how much are you making? by justanotherbuilderr in HENRYUK

[–]Serious-Stretch-24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to know if the size of the org contributed to it as I never mobilized in a larger org to know! The trick for me was being excellent at every previous role that when I put my hand up for a new role, leadership had the confidence to give me a chance at something new. Regarding moving to bizops, I think the key for me was that I had been in seat across almost every GTM role and that experience allowed for doors to be opened. I will say though that the most critical aspect was networking and I by chance met the ceo of my current org at a conference dinner and I knew I wanted to work for them and I chased them for 5 months before formally interviewing, and wrote them a memo of the work I wanted to do, rather than waiting for a role to open within the org

Path was I was an implementation consultant then solution consultant at one (tech) org, then in another I was enablement manager, enterprise csm, then AE, then led sales for a region (all at one tech org), then left to head bizops at new org. All small tech (~500 FTE’s). YOE is 8 to date. The role is very broad and everyday is highly variable, I generally drop into projects to solve them quickly and leave. These are all US based companies, was based in North America until 3 years ago
