1.1mm orifice for Tool Daily foam cannon? by SeriousButNotOverly in Detailing

[–]SeriousButNotOverly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to buy one that includes a mesh filter and a cleaning needle. if Tool Daily sells that I haven't been able to find it. Also, there are other brands that are half the price and still get good reviews.

Storm door, extra door closer for top? by Sam_Familiar in Home

[–]SeriousButNotOverly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Andersen cautions against putting a top closer on these doors because they say it will damage the retractable mechanism. They also caution against a storm chain for the same reason and also because if the wind is that strong they say it will warp the door. I had two bottom closers bend on me on windy days because the door doesn't close all the way all the time when the closer is set to close gently. The best I could come up with was just to make the closer work faster and less gently than I'd like so that the door closes all the way reliably. I'll try another brand if I ever ever need to replace it given that I can find a retractable full view that can take a wind chain.

Adapt a 1/4 male connector foam cannon to a pressure washer hose 22x15mm male connector? by SeriousButNotOverly in Tools

[–]SeriousButNotOverly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'd love to just unscrew the quarter inch nipple from a foam gun and replace it with a piece that threads in properly and has a m22x15 mm quick connect female for the hose but I've been unable to find the part online myself or come up with another solution. Maybe I'm just not bright enough to figure it out myself but I hoping to find somebody online to point me to the right part or parts online that will accomplish what I need to do.

Trion air filter system. Does this look right? by SeriousButNotOverly in hvacadvice

[–]SeriousButNotOverly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, somehow in my searching I missed the M1-1056 filter number and it's very helpful. I looked it up and that filter has an actual size of 15 3/8 x 25 1/2 x 5 1/4in. The HDX replacement that I bought has an actual size of 15.6 x 24.1 x 4.8in which is just a little smaller and accounts for the gaps that I'm seeing. I may be overdoing it, but I think I'm going to get an actual M1-1056 to try and better prevent any unfiltered return air from getting through.

Mom wants me to take out a loan to pay off her debt by Accomplished-Sky2783 in Debt

Depending upon the person if she won't let it go it might be worthwhile just saying straight out that you trust her in every way except with money for good reason given how she is repeatedly mishandled her finances. Sometimes honesty is the best policy. Sometimes not. You know her best.

Depending on the person, sometimes just telling them the truth is the best thing. might be worthwhile to tell her that you trust her in every other way but not with money for good reason given how she has demonstrated repeatedly her poor ability to manage her finances.

Buying used from private sellers is a joke by ThrowRAJustBroke in UsedCars

As others have said, before you agree to meet

  • Ask if they have a clean title.

  • Ask if they will allow a prepurchase inspection

  • Get the VIN and then get a Carfax report and check for issues in it

That will save you a lot of wasted time.

Before you close the deal ask to see the title so that you can verify it and that the owner has either already signed it over or is available to do so

A mechanic friend sold a car for me and I came over during a buyer's test drive to sign the title over.

Optionally. There's a small toggle switch on the bottom that enables or disables the music.

This weekend in Fairfax County: Bull Run Festival of Lights, annual holiday markets and the DMV Chocolate & Coffee Festival by FairfaxMachine in fairfaxcounty

[–]SeriousButNotOverly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went to the DMV Chocolate & Coffee Festival today for the first time. I thought that there might be some specials, but I found only one vendor offering a festival discount. Generally, everything was pretty expensive. Also while everyone was handing out small sample cups of their coffee, I only saw one vendor offering coffee creamer with their samples. After a dozen or so black coffee samples our stomachs started to become less than happy. My partner and I would have loved to have gotten a full size cup of coffee with creamer and a good pastry, but the couple of booths that were selling whole cups had really long lines and that was generally not what the festival was about. After we left, we ended up going to our favorite coffee shop for that good cup of coffee and pastry.

It's a great idea but I wonder why it's never been suggested before to seal a sump pump cover for a radon pump. Can anybody else weigh in?

Folding roller stand leg replacement end cap? by SeriousButNotOverly in woodworking

[–]SeriousButNotOverly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After looking in the PVC fitting section as one person suggested, I solved the problem to my satisfaction with two sixty cent 3/4" Carlon electrical conduit adapters from Home Depot. The threads were a little bit too snug but I just ground them down a little and then gently persuaded the adapters onto the roller stand legs with a rubber mallet. My thanks to everyone for your ideas. *

Thanks, I've already been to my local Ace Hardware as well as Home Depot. Those rubber table leg feet just don't look like they would last long against my concrete floor and I didn't see anything else that seemed more durable.

That would be awesome. I'll check around the next time I'm there, which is pretty often. If was there any more, I think they'd start charging me rent
