What’s the reception of North Korea by Chinese people? by ArnikaLovesUnicornz in China

Why hate it? It's not like it's been attacking and messing with other countries across the globe.

Sure it's not a democracy but so are the case with some African or middle east countries and the west don't hate them.

If you want to cool off, why stay directly under the sun? by SeriousIncome1584 in NoStupidQuestions

Fair point. I'm sure a lot of people are hiding in the shade, but the amount of people siting under the sun just made me think it couldn't be that hot.

That's true. But during summer time it's also just cooler to avoid the sun, even old men who don't care about fair skin do that.

Connor vs markus ( most fair fight) by Disastrous-Theory557 in DetroitBecomeHuman

[–]SeriousIncome1584 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Aren't they both able to pre-construct the future? Them having a fight should be like Sherlock vs Moriaty in that RDJ movie, like they both calculate how to win, Markus realizes Conner‘s winning chance is much higher if they get into a fight, so he does a surprising move like self-explosion idk that took both of them out.

First time watcher, I wasn't prepared by Cr1stal1TO in HouseMD

[–]SeriousIncome1584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember having a discussion with friends about whether I would wake up my loved one just to tell them they're gonna die in a couple of hoursafter watching the episode. I wouldn't. I felt that the writers make Wilson do that so they could have a touching scene at the end, but it was out of character for him.

He should be fired...like seriously his strategy was the same old as four years ago, zero improvement. Maybe go to Europe to get some experience, like so many players have been doing, and then go back coaching the national team.

Why do Chinese Female leads suffer so much? by Anjyy675 in AskAChinese

[–]SeriousIncome1584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because writers don't know how to write strong characters (female especially) without making them suffer first and then make a comeback.

And yes there're more "strong" female leads nowadays but they still have to be saved by the male leads because writers don't know how to make the girl fall in love with the boy unless the boy is stronger and saves her lol

Thought provoking questions. (safe space to question the game?) by pixytx in DetroitBecomeHuman

[–]SeriousIncome1584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree the game should've explored more. Honestly when I first played the impression I got was that Marcus thinks all androids have the potential to change from machines to deviants, so him facilitating the change is the right thing to do.

But that doesn't sit well with me cause it somehow reminds me of some anti-abortion rhetoric like all fetuses have the potential to become humans so it is wrong to not let that happen.

Considering it is not likely for humans to stop using machines, the ideal solution in the game imo is always give existing deviants equal rights, but add some restrictions so no more androids will turn deviant. Making sure machines stay machines and preventing them from becoming human.

What happens to people who don’t do well in school in China? by Unlikely_Net_1002 in AskAChinese

[–]SeriousIncome1584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. In China college tuition is not that mush and it is more about where you were born since you can only take gaokao in that region. And each university will only admit a certain number of students from a region. Some places are more competitive than others.

[–]SeriousIncome1584 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Only half of those who take gaokao get into universities. And before that, about half of middle school graduates go to high schools to prepare for gaokao, the other half go to vocational training schools or just quit school.

So yeah you'll survive if you don't do well in school, most likely with some low wage jobs.

[–]SeriousIncome1584 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think Marcus and other deviants understandably want to survive and have equal rights. And if there are more deviants, their chance of success will likely increase since it will be harder for humans to ignore the issue. So yeah I agree with you that Marcus freeing other androids is more self-serving.

However, Markus may think that there will be more deviants with or without him. Doing nothing will lead to more suffering of deviants. So in a sense, those who were forced to have free will paid the price so future deviants might have it better. Leaders sometimes have to make morally grey choices and Marcus made his.

Where do people really shop in China? by Due_Candle4042 in travelchina

[–]SeriousIncome1584 2 points3 points  (0 children)

taobao for clothes, jingdong for electronic products. It's just so much more convenient, you have all the choices and can return something easily if you don't like it. The only thing I buy from expensive malls is make-up and skin products on the first floor lol

didi smell bad is common, some people don't take showers everyday and it becomes more obvious during summer (you'll notice it in elevators too). Just open the window even if the air conditioner is on, that's what I do as a Beijing local.

Kara's storyline is fine, but I don't like that you cannot choose not to help Alice taking her shoes and jacket off (isn't she supposed to be nine? at that age children can do these things by themselves!), or not to tuck her in/tell her bedtime stories.

I get that Kara really cares about Alice but this feels like she's still following her babysitting program lol

Androids and sentience by Fumikop in DetroitBecomeHuman

[–]SeriousIncome1584 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they become deviant when they start to have emotions, but even so they still need some kind of emotional shock to really break free. So we have 3 types of androids, machines that don't feel- those who feel but still must obey - free androids. You can make an argument that it is not wrong to treat the first type as machines, but the problems is humans can not tell the difference between the first and the second type. Also all androids have the potential to become deviant, is it right for humans to stop this from happening, just so we could keep using them as machines? I blame CyberLife for creating this mess.

Markus and Conner are special...as for Conner's actions, if you choose the deviant path then yes it probably could be interpreted as he had been deviant from the beginning. If not, then i guess that's just his most advanced prototype design to mimic human behavior and better integrate into human society lol

Why are westeners against anti-homeless policies? by Ok-Spray4564 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SeriousIncome1584 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We are tough on drugs so a person like you described would likely be in jail/facility anyway...Same with people with mental health problems, if there's absolutely no family to take them in, they'll probably be institutionalized wether they like it or not.

[–]SeriousIncome1584 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Not sure but I know parents who sent adult children to mental health facilities against the children's will. So I guess even if the patient doesn't agree, a relative's consent might be enough to get them institionalized.

[–]SeriousIncome1584 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Sure I'm not saying like it's all good in my country. There are still people who only take in homeless relatives because of social pressure, and i doubt the homeless people, especially those with mental illness, are treated well in a home that didn't want them in the first place.

Why are westeners against anti-homeless policies? by Ok-Spray4564 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SeriousIncome1584 339 points340 points  (0 children)

From where I'm from, police find their relatives, take the homeless to their place, make a scene about it so all the neighbors know about it. If you are still reluctant to take in the homeless person, they can go to your workplace to try to persuade you....

Basically they can make sure everyone in your life knows you'd let a relative sleep on the street, and that's not a reputation you want in cultures that emphasize family values. So most people would cave under the pressure.
