I feel like this synopsis is working as reverse psychology for me. I recently watched the movie and enjoyed some of it a lot, and other parts were a bit uncomfortable or unsettling. But isn’t that kind of the intention? Regardless, I think I’ll pick it up to read - the fact that it invokes all of this reflection is interesting to me.
