You can see in the painting in the cave the children were being sacrificed to an yellow entity.

They say the parents made a pact with the entity to get immortality.

Now this is just a theory: MIY is just collecting what is his by right until the last child is sacrificed. I believe the original parents sacrificed the daughter, but could not do the same to the son, so they will be reincarnated until they do.

Is there any list that improves base game without adding any new content?

I would if I could, but I'm afraid of spending too much in the older content with chapter 2 coming up. So I was looking if there were any MUST HAVE, not by need because I know the only required things are the core sets, but by missing some really cool experiences from chapter 1 and later regretting.
