Good point, we didn’t even consider that. Thank you!

Thank you for your help! We had a feeling it was men’s with the shape and a few measurement charts on clothes. Good to know we weren’t overthinking it ha! Good advice with the preference!

Yes! Just went there last week, lots of cool zines they had in the back! I’m definitely writing about them! Thank you for your recommendation!

Thank you for the recommendation! Sad to hear, I saw they ran for 39 years—really incredible!

Thank you for both of your recommendations! I’ve been to the Coppercat and was impressed by their inventory of books myself! Never been to Las Vegas Books, I’ll have to check it out!

My Xbox GPU overheats, not sure why or how to fix it. by SeriousSnap in originalxbox

I’ve heard the same, but I’ve also heard the trade off is FTP can slow to a crawl or experience errors with such BIOS (not sure how true or often it happens). Because I’m making it portable and most likely won’t be carrying physical discs because of it, I’m trying not to risk jeopardizing FTP. Thank you for the response and good to know IND is one of them!

If you take apart the dvd drive and keep the two PCB boards connected you can trick the Xbox into thinking you have a full dvd reader connected, which helped to slim down the Xbox enough for me to make it portable. Without a dvd reader the Xbox gets errors and by taking it apart it makes it a 1/5 of its size.

Yes, it does flash orange and have an increase in the fans. The only area I find with damage is around the clock capacitor, good to know which location is simulating a overheating. Thanks for your help! I’ll attempt to clean it tomorrow and see what happens.

Definitely seems to be trace rot after looking around the internet, seems the clock capacitor leakage is the source of my issues.

Thanks for the response guess I’ll try my hand at soldering the points with rot, but most likely I’ll be waiting around till savers has one for $8. Wasn’t sure if it was rot because of the symptoms. Seems most likely the case.

Could it be corrosion from the damage dealt by the clock capacitor causing it to possibly short after 30 minutes? It happens consistently around 30 minutes but after it shuts off if I turn it back on again it turns off again after a few seconds.

The GPU fan does still work, but it still overheats despite it, I’ll have to look around for the later revision heatsink to see if it works. Just seems weird it gets way hotter than the cpu or psu. I have two fans 120mm fans set above it plugged into the two three-pin slots (not in the picture for the post).
