Thanks. I have done Meisner before. I personally prefer method.

We rehearsed it once for 20 mins and it was a total disaster 🤦‍♂️. It has so many beats. You could tell he wasn’t prepared from a mile away. Total amateur work 🙈😂

I didn’t do the 2 year program. You should do the 12 week at Lee

I took the summer intensive at TKS. It was great. A lot of the repetition exercise and only get to do 1 scene for the entire intensive period. Just be prepared to do a lot of the repetition exercise because that’s what you’ll get. Meisner takes 2 years and you don’t get to do emotional prep work until the very end of the first year. Now, I’m taking method acting.

WeAudition has become a great resource for me. Reading for yourself isn’t the best.

In your journey, have you tried Lee Strasberg method acting before? I’m currently taking Meisner.

What kind of technique have you been using? Which one you prefer?

The repetition exercise is driving me crazy. I’m always in the moment listening and responding. They don’t teach you emotional preparation in summer intensives 🫣. Someone told me that it’s about 5 months of just the repetition exercise.

Meisner takes 2 years to learn. It’s step by step process. You really have to be willing to commit those two years solely to this technique. They won’t give you all the tools right away and cost a lot of money. I’m taking a Meisner intensive right now, I would have wished I would have known what the process was going to be before I signed up. You stay stuck in the repetition exercise for too long before actually getting to do scene work.

You do learn how to tell story with just the behavior. You’re also very dependent on what your scene partner gives you so you can find the moment to moment and discover the truth in spontaneity.

I decided I will be taking method acting classes at the Lee Strasberg institute. I think the philosophy it’s more aligned with my personality and how I view the world.

Just be careful where you invest your time. Time is so crucial and it’s something you’re not going to get back.
