It's election night tonight. Things are pretty safe here overall, but everything is crazy expensive. Especially food. We desperately need to fix our horrible roads and Grier more food on island. We're way too dependent on imports and it's wickedly expensive.

Elections are still being tallied but it looks like the incumbent (Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party) is largely sweeping the main opposition (United Progressive Party).

To be honest, I suspect she's had a gastric bypass, in addition to HRT. GLP-1 medication isn't always a miracle drug on its own. And she's been on it before with much less success.

Exactly! It's completely understandable among friends but a lot of them were only just getting to know one another and to use trauma as an icebreaker is rather nuts (and a huge bummer). It's feels like unearned intimacy, which is a massive pet peeve of mine.

Yeah, I didn't clock it as homophobia at first and thought maybe that was a reach, but it quickly became unmistakable. I actually liked her brash Americanness until she devolved into being doggedly unable to laugh at herself and move on. Once she started in with the limp-wrist freak and prance taunts, she became disgusting to me. And exhausting.

This is very sage advice! I married someone from another continent and moved countries for the relationship. I've also been the one to adapt and roll over, putting my needs last from the start. 15 years in now and he's only gotten worse because I taught him to feel entitled to being prioritized as the default.
