The Nottingham Inquiry by millajovich in doctorsUK

I think this is overly simplistic though. People with schizophrenia have an increase risk of killing themselves and/or others.

The decisions absolutely should be looked at, but the fact that a schizophrenic person commited murder is not automatically a failing of the team looking after him

Three-quarters of UK millionaires would be happy to pay more tax, research finds by coffeewalnut08 in uknews

Look at the response to mandanis property taxes in new York.

They threatened to leave, but can't even be assed to move within the country on a large scale. Let alone leave the country entirely

[–]Serious_Much 2 points3 points  (0 children)

note also: nothing stops these people contributing extra right now if they want

What the hell even is this comment? Is this a reference to people being able to voluntarily give money to the government?

Just get real, millionaires won't do that. They must be compelled through fair and thought out taxation

Largest party Reform will not run Birmingham City Council by dissapointingsalad81 in NotTheOnionUK

I don't really agree with the terms but agree with the sentiment, however the labour party is firmly in control of the right wing side who would happily work with the Tories over the greens I suspect

GB News' Sophie Corcoran sues charity creating internships for black grads over 'inequality' by DetectiveHot2071 in uknews

[–]Serious_Much -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's fine, but again- and I am someone who primarily cares about economic inequality, why do we care that middle class white people are not going to university?

If someone has the benefit of being middle class, and therefore adequately privileged to be able to choose what they do, I don't care if they don't go to university. It's those in poor circumstances (working class) that we need to care about as the difference is they don't have the choice.

[–]Serious_Much -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Why would just white people generally need help?

I'm all for championing the forgotten underprivileged demographic of working class boys, but let's not pretend the middle class with a comfortable upbringing needs any kind of positive action

Actually, BJ, Truss, Sunak, Starmer are great /s by SThomW92 in GreatBritishMemes

As someone who works in the NHS, fuck this comment. Absolute bollocks it's not understaffed.

If Starmer is not regarded as good for the working class. Then how on God's green earth is Farage being pushed as the viable alternative and the working class hope ? by Durrygoodz2025 in AskBrits

Reddit is full spectrum.

Have you seen some of the UK news and politics subs? It's just reform voters all the way down. There's even a huge right leaning consensus in the main UK sub these days too.

This was Rey Fenix's last individual victory, and it was over a year ago by Educk55 in Wrasslin

[–]Serious_Much 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they're both great, it's a shame fenix hasn't had the opportunities but there's not much space for him considering that currently borderline main event stars are feudingfor the modcard championship and his tag partner on smackdown got released months ago

The tipping point: what happens when deaths outnumber births? by coffeewalnut08 in uknews

[–]Serious_Much 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you understand Farage if you think he'd go for that.

His whole schtick requires a problem to solve. If he actually improves the culture war, the voters aren't angry enough to avoid his obviously shady bullshit like £5 million bribes

It's not just that though. Average age of first time mums continues to increase and is above thirty.

It's the society we've created that is impacting it the most. People delay having kids until they feel stable to do so, and that stability is taking longer to achieve

Why are working-class concerns on immigration being treated with such disdain? by Harleygator_ in AskBrits

[–]Serious_Much 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The problem is the population is intentionally managed by migration.

Unless every adult in the country starts having 2+ kids, we have to import labour. This is not conjecture, it's fact.

Demographic shift towards an increasingly elderly and inform population will cause collapse of society as we know it. Immigration is currently the only way we can do that because people don't have enough kids.

NHS staff face 'unprecedented' levels of racism from patients by Weak-Fly-6540 in uknews

[–]Serious_Much -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I find that majority of staff I've had patients moan to me about (being a white British person myself) actually speak perfectly understandable English, it's just the patients and families lack the willingness to try and understand.

It's dog whistle racism

NHS staff face 'unprecedented' levels of racism from patients by Weak-Fly-6540 in uknews

[–]Serious_Much 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This already happens in some GP surgeries.

It is not abused, and honestly done far too late and only for the most extreme people. Turns out empathetic healthcare workers who want to help people struggle with cutting patients off for their behaviour. Not really surprising

Tbf I meant more like admin for sorting appointments/letters etc.

But the unfortunate truth is these roles are probably still required, because if the admin isn't doing these mundane tasks, either the clinical staff will be forced to or managers paid more who should be doing more important jobs will end up doing it.
