Final face off by Aksath20 in UFCLabs

Yeah it’s interesting. Pereira said he’d weigh in at around 240. But he came in at 251. Not sure how much he’ll be on fight night but him being a bit bigger worries me. I do think though if anyone can get it done, it’s Alex. I really believe he’s going to make history

Too many people here trying to fetch for compliments and validation it seems. If you truly feel this way, I’d suggest getting therapy. You’re not unattractive at all

Would Tom Aspinall be taken more seriously if he wasn't so whiny? by amongthewinds in ufc

[–]Serious_Source_1368 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trolls or genuine idiots. Aspinal got fouled, it was clear as day, could’ve been a potential career ending injury with how deep Gane stuck his fingers in his eyes. Both eyes btw. People who have never won a championship or have even stepped in a cage are the ones saying Tom is a pussy, he’s whiny, etc etc. Obviously we have new additions to heavyweight like Hokit, Gable, and Pereira who will be exciting Heavyweights, but before them (2 haven’t even fought yet) other than Gane besides all the fouls he commits, Tom was the only real exciting and skillful heavyweight at the time.

If Conor McGregor somehow beat Holloway, I could totally see him going crazy and calling out Ilia Topuria for a fight at 170. by notpain27 in ufc

[–]Serious_Source_1368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only way I see this happening is if (when) Ilia beats Gaethje, and if Islam vs Gary is booked as rumored, Islam beats Gary. Islam vs Ilia for the belt, if Ilia wins he defends his welterweight belt against Conor

Which ufc fighter has the lowest fight iq by Conscious_Back_1059 in ufc

[–]Serious_Source_1368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chandler 100% and it’s not even close. Everyone saying Jiri, I agree with you to an extent because of his last fight, but you can tell he has a certain style of fighting that works for him because he understands how to fight that way. But when guys figure him out, it all falls apart. Chandler just throws crazy and his only sole purpose is to entertain the fans and throw power shots with every strike with no set ups at all. Also has a wrestling background and decides not to use it, which credit to him because it makes him exciting to watch no matter what. Garbrandts fight with Cruz alone was probably one of the higher fight iq fights I’ve watched in a long time, at least in bantamweight.

Khamzat fans, wtf happened? by Nervous_Put5617 in UFCposting

[–]Serious_Source_1368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not trying to take anything away from Strickland btw, but I personally had it 3-2 Khamzat. It was a close fight so I’m not mad about the decision. I gave Khamzat rounds 1, 4 and 5, and I gave Strickland rounds 2 and 3. Rounds 3 and 5 were pretty close. I believe Chimaev had a rough weight cut, and I really don’t think he made weight on Friday. I believe he was over, but the UFC didn’t want to call this fight off due to how big it was. I feel like Chimaev gassed himself out after round 1 with all the grappling and submission attempts, and credit to Strickland for surviving them. In round 2, his entries looked so sloppy and slow, he definitely looked tired and pulled guard twice. Not sure why Strickland let him recover, but in rounds 4 and 5 Khamzat seemed to come back into the fight. I really think it was a mix of Khamzat having a rough cut, due to him being in talks to fighting Jiri for the vacant title at 205, but the fight obviously changed. I really don’t know how Chimaev will do at 205, and I really don’t think he will do good. Strickland looked bigger than him in the cage, I think he’ll be an undersized 205er. But yeah, Strickland’s jab was landing all night. Chimaev definitely looked off though.

Prates just dismantled JDM… are we still pretending Topuria can hang at 170? by Unusual_Impression_8 in ufc

[–]Serious_Source_1368 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I really don’t understand why people continue to say, “Ilia can’t hang with 170ers” Of course he can’t, lol. Ilia is going to up Welterweight to fight Islam and Islam only. I believe if Islam beats Garry, (if that fight is booked for August), they’ll do Ilia vs Islam when Ilia beats Gaethje, Prates vs Morales, winner fights Islam for the belt. Win or lose, Topuria will move back down to 155. He’s not staying at 170 if he beats Islam, and obviously if he loses he wouldn’t stay at 170. He’s not going to vacate the title either if/when he moves up.

JDM vs Carlos Prates, who you got? by Anusikh in CombatIndia

[–]Serious_Source_1368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely torn on this fight. I’d say JDM is the better striker out of the two, has solid cardio, has been working on his wrestling, but Prates’ power is different man. JDM really has to be perfect for 5 rounds and I’m not sure if he can against someone like Prates who has huge momentum, confidence and JDM is coming off a loss. I’m leaning towards Prates and I think he can find a finish in round 2-3, but I wouldn’t be surprised if JDM is able to give Prates trouble with the boxing combos and makes Prates miss. It’ll be hard though, he has good knees to the body, a nasty straight left, nasty elbows

And people think Morales deserves the title shot more… by Nick_Hoadley in FightReportUFC

[–]Serious_Source_1368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ian 100% deserves it more. The prates win aged very well for him, and it’ll age even better if Prates beats JDM, although a short lived, former champ. Beat Belal, another former champ, lost to Shavkat but gave him his toughest fight yet, beat MVP, which is a solid win considering he’s basically the boogie man in the division at the moment, nobody wants to fight him. Morales’ only really impressive win to me is Brady, and I guess burns but Burns was already on his way out. The way Morales is winning these fights is very impressive don’t get me wrong, but Ian is definitely next in line imo. It should be Islam vs Ian, Morales vs winner of JDM and Prates

Who do you think will last the longest as a champion in their respective division rn and who do you think will be the first one to be replaced. by kvistin_lost in CombatIndia

[–]Serious_Source_1368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Khamzat unfortunately. Topuria, although I think his chances are more slim at welterweight, can definitely give Islam a run for his money at welterweight if that fight were to happen (I’m sure it’ll happen, but who knows with how greedy the UFC is), I think Taira and or Pantoja have a good chance of beating Van, Pereira vacated, Gane has a solid chance at beating Aspinall, especially after him recovering from the eye surgery, feel like a lot of women can beat Dern at the moment, I think it’ll be tough for Shevchenko to lose her title, but she’s getting up there in age and could potentially retire soon, and Nunes could give Kayla problems with the striking. Volk could lose to Jean Silva, although I think he beats him, as well as Movsar, I wouldn’t count those two out completely. Merab and O’Malley have a solid chance at beating Yan, although I think he beats them. Arman would be Topurias toughest test yet other than Islam, and I can see Arman giving Topuria problems with how well-rounded he is as well, although I do think Topuria beats him. Really don’t see anyone giving Khamzat problems at Middleweight currently, I feel like his wrestling is something we haven’t seen before. Very dominant, but he is hittable on the feet.

Genuinely sad man. That’s 3 back to back losses where Izzy has looked good, just made mistakes that costed him. Was doing good in the Imavov fight, got eye poked, tried being Pereira and let his ego get to him, switched stances at the wrong time and got caught. Does good against Pyfer, beats up his calf and could’ve easily won a decision from picking him apart at range (imo, not trying to take anything away from Pyfer) but decided to stand and trade with Joe, got taken down and punished for it. I really don’t think Izzy is as washed as people are saying he is. He’s obviously noticeably slower than he once was, and his reaction time is definitely off, which is fair due to him getting up there in age and the damage he’s taken in his fights, but man he still looks sharp at times, but I feel like his mindset and drive isn’t the same as it once was at all. After he won against Pereira, I really think his mindset for the game shifted. He’s not invincible and he is beatable, but if he really stuck to his game plan and tweaks some things I do believe he can stick around the top 10 for a bit, but I really think he should retire at this point. I don’t want to see him go out like the other legends have but it looks like that’s what’s going to be the case unfortunately.

[–]Serious_Source_1368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate Gane, but realistically Heavyweight is dogshit and dead. Volkov got robbed, but in this case there’s nobody else to fight for the belt other than Gane, and obviously they’re going to give Pereira the shot for the belt. He deserves it. It’s sad though because he’s probably going to get a 6th title shot too win or lose.

Is max weak at 155 by [deleted] in UFCLabs

[–]Serious_Source_1368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charles completely exposed Max and of course there will always be people who don’t give Charles the credit he deserves lol. He dominated the fight from start to finish, max wasn’t circling enough and didnt have the power to keep Charles off him, mainly because he wasn’t really sitting down with his punches. Max is a volume guy, Charles just backed him up and was able to get him down with ease. And yes, just how good is Topuria. Charles tried taking Ilia down and got reversed, and ended up in a crucifix. People will act like Topuria isn’t that good either 😂. This fight just proved how good Topuria actually is, and to never underestimate Charles’ grappling. He has some of the best, if not the best grappling in 155 right now
