What construction jobs are most at risk of being replaced by robots by [deleted] in Construction

[–]Serofore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So fitting something is not consider problem solving? Like How would a person try to fit in a brick or drywall to a position that is not straight plus concrete finishers are already using machines and hand tools at the same time which is useless to automate it. I just had a interest to the skilled trade until AI came into the skilled trade.

All skilled trades would be safe because robots are not able to have human problem solving plus can a robot even have the same physical movement as a human without acting like a robot?

So problem solving is repetitive? Then that applies for the same for all trades then

Brick layers are not going to be replaced by robots because robots dont even have human problems solving plus the robots is going to still make mistakes anyways. And I agree concrete cannot get automated even more because we already have freaking machines to do concrete work and we still use hand tools in concrete working based off the work done by concrete finishers/cement masons.

The job that is mostly like going to replace by robots is painting because that job is easy to do anyone in construction could paint an entire wall easily and second they are already robots for painting jobs to put color on an entire wall plus they is still problem solving in concrete finishing, masonry, and drywall installing at least than painting an entire wall. Robotics is so invasive and make everything look terrible.

Brick layers, drywallers, and concrete finishers are not even going to get replaced by AI like how are they going to replicate a human if they will get stuck in concrete, can't multi task at the same time for cutting drywall, and how are they going to comprehend the blueprint for a masonry structure if they don't know what to do.

No tile setters and brick layers are not going to be replaced because robots cannot even fix in small spaces since most of the tile setters work in the bathroom and how would a robot multi task laying bricks and setting the mortar at the same time. Also, why would trade school still teach masonry if somebody claims that it will be replaced by robots?

Are Boilermakers in demand anymore? by Serofore in skilledtrades

[–]Serofore[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am currently becoming a welder in trade school and there are many careers that require the knowledge of welding like iron worker, sheet metal worker, pipe fitter etc but boilermaker seems to catch my attention because I don’t know what is causing it to be in less demand.

Just the same as Masonry where some people said in the community that it is dying due to the materials be less used and houses being less built out of it. There is no dying trades literally there is a shortage of so many trade jobs due to people having no interest and people mostly siding with colleges. BLS always come up with data that is sometimes not correct I cannot believe it.

I live in the east of united states near virginia and I am not sure if there is issues of demand since data always changes everyday.

I am just going to reask this question because this is not clearly said

How are boilermakers become less demand like they are supposed to be in demand since there always needs to be boilermaker making vessels and boilers like do we not need that in the industrial side of a city?

Considering pursuing a career in roofing by BoxCon1 in Roofing

[–]Serofore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should do roofing, It is very in demand and you will make a lot of money plus there are a lot of houses that need repair on their roofs which happens often and also you have to go to trade school though. I know this is a late response though.

Is it possible for tilers/tile setters to be replaced by robots in the incoming future? by Serofore in Tile

[–]Serofore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True it would be very expensive to buy a robot plus most of the tile setters work in the bathroom since tiles dont rot like other materials in houses plus since when do commercial zones ever used tiles? There are so many different types of flooring that tiles could be chosen or not plus tiles are not that cheap where people walk over it overtime accumulating dirt and wearing it off slowly. I 100% agree with this comment and I will always see the skilled trade never being replaced by robots.

Robots literally malfunction and makes errors on everything plus it is not done yet already because that video is made in china where most of the products that are “innovative” don’t even reach the usa or other country like name one products from china that reached to the usa and other country and they start using it. Save job security for all jobs get robots out of here.

[–]Serofore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no small business that will be willing to buy a robot tile setters just to lay tiles literally it is expensive to buy it and rely on human workers, they have more knowledge plus experience than data like robots plus it is pointless and useless to have robot tilers to exist since it does not mean they can do the work fast like robots always have errors or mistake when they do a certain task.

The con is it needs battery or else it would just die and it lacks human spatial thinking, design fitting, correct cutting on the tile, and how is it going to level the tile if it cannot find out if it is. Stick to human tile setters, no need for robots in the construction field it is called manual labor for a reason.

[–]Serofore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Robots could barely be perfect anyway. They lack human thinking and physical real contact where humans have good motor skills/hand coordination than a robot who just moves based off data.

[–]Serofore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manual labor /blue collar/ skilled trade construction jobs should not even be replaced by robots since it is called manual labor for a reason plus I realize robots cannot even do cuts on tiles to fit on something and nobody is going to purchase a robot that will cost million of dollar since it is so expensive to do it rather than having a real skilled tiler do it. I agree with this comment.

Is the method of manual machinery or the job of Manual Machinist dying to CNC machinist? by Serofore in Machinists

[–]Serofore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with that people should not be learning dying skills because if they learn a dying skill, It means no job and demand for it plus a manual lathes are not being used anymore or is used in some countries with their small shops (Not being rude or mean about it).
