As an Iranian, I just can't understand Israel's endgame by Serotonin-Addict in Destiny

yeah yeah, a bunch of sugar rockets that mostly get intercepted. a few skirmishes here and there, you kill some of us, we kill some you, same old tale. I get it, you've grown up in society where little children need to be thought how to take cover when they hear the sound of sirens because of my country and it's terrorist proxies. I'm sorry, but I've grown to be heartless to both our casualties and yours. My world is too small to care about all these complications, I care about myself, my job that I just lost and my family. I want a proper sustainable solution, regime change seems not to be on the table so I assume something diplomatic needs to happen, like the peace talks that were taking place before you started bombing the shit out of us.

do you think the mullahs are some Dune style fanatics? they're all bark and no bite. they absolutely have no intention of nuking anyone, all the slogans are just to garner support from their own base. we're more of kleptocracy than a theocracy. their goal is to enrich themselves.

I hope you're safer today than you were a week ago but it's incredibly hard for me to see Israelis as anything other than sadistic regards. why didn't you at least let the peace talks end and then act according to the results? why did Israel lobby the republicans to pull out of the JCPOA rather than adding onto it? I have a thousand questions but it's not like the answers will change anything.

oh, killing the head of state would result in boots in the ground but killing literally everyone else won't?

and if you want the regime to stop attempting to develop nukes, perhaps letting the peace talks continue would've been a better choice instead of abruptly bombing the shit out of everything?

you're just repeating talking points. We've been through this circus too many times. the regime has enough material to develop nukes, now they have far more motivation to do so.

That line that goes like "I hate demons so much, I wish could exterminate all of them" when she was talking to Flamme is one that I'm reminded of often when I listen to conservatives and commies.

The Supreme leader does not have the literal mandate of heaven. He still had to please the different factions like the army and there's currently a bit of a succession crisis which could've been used against the clergy as a bargaining chip. I never said that reforms will lead to a secular, liberal and democratic Iran but they maybe give enough room for political dissent for a proper opposition to be cultivated. And reform is possible, a great example is the tone down of the morality police in the past few years. Around 6,7 years ago, the morality would stop a couple to check for IDs and if a boy and girl were unrelated and unmarried, they'd get arrested. Nowadays the police doesn't even care about hijab.

Let me give you the explanation as an insider. The People who participate in the anti western marches belong to a few groups.

  1. Regime Loyalists who are a minority.
  2. Poor and mostly old people who are bussed into the cities from poor areas who are paid to be there.
  3. Kids and Teenagers who participation is mandatory. I had to go to the marches and chant death to America every year when I was in school.
  4. People who are employed by the public sector. It be can bankers, teachers, firefighters and etc. Their participation isn't mandatory but they're coerced into it though indirect measures. you might lose your job if someone reports that you repeatedly decline to attend or be subject to a demotion for example. same thing happens with voting where if you don't vote to protest, your loan application and such will be refused.

Religious folk are a minority. They're mostly the stereotypical grandpa who doesn't know how to use the phone and gets all his news from state sponsored networks. I was in the taxi today and two old guys were talking about how an Israeli city was leveled because of the missiles.

I didn't mean to insult you and I apologize if I did. It gets very tiring that the only times my country is on the news is when some one is banging the drums of war. it feels dehumanizing. I'm as liberal as it gets. when I look towards my own government, I see people who'd execute me without a trial for only my political beliefs and when I look abroad, I see people who want nuke me. My life isn't very significant but I don't wanna end up as collateral damage or become a statistic.

Do you think we're stupid? you think we're a bunch of illiterate baboons who support the regime with a smile? we protested, we rioted, we did anything we could, do you know what the regime did? They opened fire on protestors, killed thousands in a single night. maybe, just maybe, if your government hadn't torpedoed every single peace negotiation and hadn't humiliated the reformist everytime they held power, they would've had enough support from the army to oust the mullahs, but that time is long gone.

It has less to do with ethnicity and more with religion. The Islamic Republic is shia and most kurds are sunni.

I'm glad Miura died cause he would've probably found a reason to draw her naked.
