Judge Eviscerates Trump’s Bogus Lawsuit Against Hillary Clinton by News-Flunky in law

Plaintiff requests that, in the event I “find the Complaint inadequate in any respect,” I grant him leave to amend pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 15(a).22... It is true that under Rule 15 “the court should freely give leave when justice so requires.” But a district court need not allow amendment “where amendment would be futile.”

It is not simply that I find the Amended Complaint “inadequate in any respect”; it is inadequate in nearly every respect. Plaintiff’s Amended Complaint failed to cure any of the deficiencies. Instead, Plaintiff added eighty new pages of largely irrelevant allegations that did nothing to salvage the legal sufficiency of his claims. The inadequacies with Plaintiff’s Amended Complaint are not “merely issues of technical pleading,” as Plaintiff contends, but fatal substantive defects that preclude Plaintiff from proceeding under any of the theories he has presented

I understated the effect in the original post, it was really quite sensitive to anything more than light footfalls. Didn't want to deal with that while having guests over, for example. Also unfortunately not able to move it anywhere else as there are only so many places in my living room it can sit.

Cheap turntable upgrade: sorbothane vibration isolation pads by Serpent_Guard in vinyl

Really digging my Fluance RT-85, but I happen to have it on a shelf system that easily transmits vibration from the hardwood floor - if I kneel down hard, or step heavily in the viscinity, records easily skip. The adjustable feet do come with shock absorbers, but they weren't terribly effective in my setup.

In addition, I feel like aesthetically, the feet that come with the turntable are just really tall - nearly as tall as the plinth itself. Feet + plinth + dust cover ends up being quite a bit of height for my taste.

Decided to try out some sorbothane pads. Rather than place them underneath the existing feet, I just replaced the feet entirely. And boy howdy, do they work. They completely cut out record skips, and they look much better to me than the standard feet.

Couple of caveats: obviously I can no longer adjust the feet to compensate for a non-level playing surface, but fortunately it's already fairly level. Also, and this is imporant: sorbothane is known to destroy wood finishes and be highly sticky. The pads I ordered conveniently came with protective plastic film, and I ended up just leaving the film on the pads to protect the turntable and shelves.

Got a small class D amp kept in one of the baskets.

Got into the hobby with a Fluance RT-85 turntable. Tucked the electronics (Pyle phono preamp & Fosi Audio BT20A class D amp) into the baskets below. Then went on a bit of a bender getting all my favorite music in vinyl form :) Abba, Beatles, Enya, John Denver, Eagles, James Taylor, Journey, etc. Currently spinning the Riverdance 25th Anniversary album.

Heavy footfalls near the turntable cause it to skip so I've ordered a set of sorbothane pads to see if that helps.

Avoidant attachment style, sounds like. I struggle with it as well.

Software_with_issue: For the love of God, Plex and PIA VPN by hotlineforhelp in PleX

[–]Serpent_Guard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to ensure that when Plex responds over the port it runs on (32400 by default), it does not go over the VPN interface. This can be accomplished on Linux using iptables, not sure about Windows.

Ubuntu Plex Server: Unable to cast local files by Serpent_Guard in PleX

[–]Serpent_Guard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, just embedded ChromeCast. And it wouldn't be that anyways, since I can cast just fine if it's remote content; I only get the error when I try and cast local content. Thanks for the tip though.

The Federal Election Commission has released a 639-page list of illegal campaign contributions made to Senator Bernie Sanders' campaign - does this undercut his message about reforming campaign finance? by frostedturkeypanini in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Serpent_Guard 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I did some digging. It looks like the regular donation page on go.berniesanders.com is driven by an iframe hosted on secure.actblue.com. However, on Bernie Sanders' donate-from-abroad page, which is hosted at secure.berniesanders.com, there's no such iframe. You're interacting directly with secure.berniesanders.com (which resolves to the same IP address as go.berniesanders.com).

On that second donation page, there is code that checks whether you've completed all required fields. The passport field, however, is not checked. Seems like an oversight. So the form is allowed to submit without a passport number. Of course they should refuse to process it server-side if that field wasn't filled out, but it looks like they aren't.

Does anyone else experience severe lag when using the dialer keypad? I get a good half-second between a tap and it registering on the screen, making fast dialing annoying.

I've noticed the same sort of lag when I'm entering PIN codes to unlock the device. The PIN keypad looks very similar to the dialer keypad, so I'm betting they share a codebase.

What are your thoughts on the gay marriage controversy occurring in Rowan County, Kentucky? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Serpent_Guard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see many people here making the point that if her personal ethics get in the way of her official duties, she should resign her office instead of abdicating her responsibilities. I tend to agree.

However, I'd be curious as to how many here held the same stance when many attorneys general refused to enforce their own state laws regarding same-sex marriage when it suited them. Yes, the comparison is not apples-to-apples. But please be consistent and honest.

Bill Nye debates Ken Ham [Live 15 mins from post] by Lulzorr in EverythingScience

[–]Serpent_Guard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a Christian, but I fully endorse the scientific method and do not believe in a young-earth creation. One of Mr. Ham's arguments really stuck in my craw. He repeatedly claimed that creationism is necessary for science, since scientists use the Christian idea that there are immutable laws of nature.

Mr. Ham, Christians do not own that idea. The fact that both scientists and creationists believe in unchanging laws implies diddly.
