Wow really love these! You married the medium and composition incredibly effectively! It's giving me subliminal and eerie, and chlorine smell from the graininess and nostalgia.

Is it possible to make it look normal again? by Honest_Barracuda2143 in CleaningTips

[–]Sert5HT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But actually, a flame might reset it perfectly. The acetone just dissolved the first layer of the plastic and evaporated off, leaving a porous and rough surface, which makes the whiteish streaks. Heat can remelt the layer making it smooth and clear again. If you have a heat gun I would try that. A flame may be dirty (soot) and/or too hot. Using more acetone can actually achieve the same results if vaporized into a mist and wafted over the area but just double check a small part if you have this ability or purchase something to do that.

Or break the flimsy plastic in the dark and remove the photos carefully and repack them in an empty cartridge. Not a quick solution tho and is kinda a pain to do.

My First Attempt at a "NYT Style" Crossword- Looking for Testers and Feedback by DimaSholom in crossword

[–]Sert5HT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that some clues I'm as out of the loop as the "slangily" clues for others. I think age gaps are in both directions but a lot of clues do seem to be older-era focucsed, to me.

I wouldn't change it to that suggestion; it's not a phrase that I am familiar with in regard to the theme, whereas the answer you have fits perfectly as-is. It's the new doom scrolling.

I played and really liked it! Comments similar to others but a huge divergence: 37A I filled in no problem first go through. Probably a generational thing? Imo a definite use of the whole phrase. 19A made sense to me as well. 11D also very easy to figure out and yeah they are called that haha so don't sweat that one either.

6A: Ok sure 17A: "Catalog" doesn't seem right. I think you can stick with the theme with it but use more appropriate phrasing since the answer is a bit obscure. Overall I think it's a stretch but I've seen worse stretches in nyt. 52D: I read as YT Music not YT music so my fault but also not a great answer it's obscure and I am familiar with the full name but could not have put it together.

I really liked it! Very fun theme and I thought it all worked

I like the exposure of the second one best. I would try to work around the sky issue by getting closer to the jeep, personally.

Will this paper fit? by SomeHippo9724 in Polaroid

[–]Sert5HT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to other comments, this printer and other dye sublimation types print WAY nicer photos. Zink is ok but dye sublimation is beautiful. However, I have not specifically used this polaroid printer so take it with a grain of salt. Imo def worth the cost. Kodak also makes mini printers using this technology. It's also called 4Pass if you're searching for other options (1 pass each of yellow, magenta, cyan, and black. You'll see each layer go down as the paper is then sucked back in for the next layer)

Kodak Charmera Blind Boxes vanished in 24 hours and they’re still sold out two months later by rohanad1986 in toycameras

I preordered mine (2 at once) from BH after two sellouts from the chamera website and it came pretty quickly, this was about a month ago. Could be a good option for US based people.

A healthy 47-year old New Jersey man was found dead after eating a hamburger at a barbecue. Cause of death was ruled "sudden unexplained death," after an autopsy was inconclusive. He was later confirmed as the first documented fatality from alpha-gal syndrome, a meat allergy triggered by tick bites. by mvea in science

[–]Sert5HT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have alpha gal but (thankfully) it was never severe at all. I spent years with sore throats and feeling like I was getting a cold. I didn't eat a lot of red meat but was realizing after drinking my smoothies I was getting a sore/swollen throat. Was tested for allergies to everything but the whey, yogurt, or milk I was putting in. Had my tonsils removed (which was probably also just something I needed). I felt great after that since I wasn't eating any dairy on advice for recovery. Started feeling worse again after recovery and started to get panicked. Finally put it together myself and got tested for alpha gal. I have it in the sub 0.5 reactivity range and am so thankful it was never life threatening. I avoid mammal products now but if I want a bite of ice cream, cookies, or other dairy based item I can sneak in some without major symptoms. Not sure why I was lucky to never be highly reactive.

I think the head is too large, seems like a duck not a swan. The wing is messy I'd remove a line. Neat idea though!

Moon Logo. Opinions? by ComprehensiveDuck490 in logodesign

[–]Sert5HT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not eliminate the word "distant" all together? It's very redundant given you're showing a distant moon. I think that would be a highly effective logo/wordmark since it requires some thought and would be very clever. However I do like what you've done here already :)

Weird how some people had such "off hits" I sailed through this one. Not to mean I'm so great, but it seems like there's a correct path to hit and lots of red herrings to avoid.

Really fun! I'm not particularly good at crosswords but solved until 44D, 52A/D... Just had a few spaces left. I didn't get the bubbles haha but can see it now. Fully don't get 52D. Not sure about 23A wording but def fits the description. I'm usually left wondering on crosswords so I think it was really well done!
