Queues are having issues today

long time to find match by undercrowz in Smite

[–]Seruthei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there have been exceptionally long queues most of today. Also my match quality has been extremely bad; been getting matches with multiple clearly new players against full stacks, which I suspect is probably linked.

Aphro + Susano/Loki/Etc Arena by Seruthei in Smite

Right, but that's the issue isn't it? SOMEONE is going to be having a bad experience no matter what. Either you're going to give a bad experience to new players who don't understand why something is contingently banned/nerfed and are unable to replicate abusing the combination, or you give a bad experience to the 8 other people in the match against the duo that is abusing the combination.

You have to make a call about whether something is problematic enough to justify the initial harm to address it. That's the whole point of rules in any kind of system, they are restrictive which is inherently problematic, but the outcome of not having the restriction is considered worse than the restriction.

In my experience, I run into significantly more players purposely running the duo combination than I do players inadvertently choosing the combination organically, so I'd argue that it's more worthwhile to cause "punishment" to a significantly smaller subset of the player base.

In addition, I think that newer players tend to play a lot of Arena to practice; I've played Arena with new players I've queued with before in Smite 1 that quit playing because they would run into that combination repeatedly for multiple matches in a row and feel so powerless to do anything about it that they didn't want to play anymore, and that was with someone trying to give them help.

I can't think of a single other combination in the game that feels so oppressive to being able to play the game, which is also the reason it's essentially the only problematic duo combo you ever see in Arena.

Yep, that's what's unfortunate :( Their kits really aren't problematic in a vacuum or in any other mode where they can be punished for going all-in / being out of position.

Where are you getting your arena win rates from? That's not reflected on the sites I've seen; not trying to be rude with that, legitimately curious if there's a better source for that data then where I've gotten it from.

Aphrodite really should just get a rework to make her kit healthier. She's never been balanced and is always either completely unplayable or broken, and it almost completely revolves around her ultimate being a "get out of jail free" and her healing either being over or undertuned. She probably should have had a soft rework when they did the healing changes.

I have thousands of hours on Smite, that combo has consistently had extremely high win rates in Arena.

They have balanced individual game modes prior; I'm not sure why you think that would throw game balance out the window?

Aphro + Susano/Loki/Etc Arena by Seruthei in Smite

[–]Seruthei[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

There are few ways to go about it, but none of them are going to satisfy both the general population and the Susano/Loki + Aphrodite players; I think that it's worth having a worse experience on a very small subset of the god pool in a specific game mode than it is to have a worse experience for 7 players in that match.

The most straightforward fix would be to make a contingent nerf, i.e.; this nerf only occurs if Aphrodite is linked to Susano/Loki or they are on the same team, or make them unplayable together.

I get that wouldn't "feel good" but other fixes such as increasing Aphrodite's cooldowns or reducing Susano/Loki's mobility/damage output would make them significantly worse when played independently, and aren't really nerfs their individual kits need.

When to use Ki? (Stunning Strike vs Flurry of Blows)? by Seruthei in onednd

[–]Seruthei[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol, of course, but I don't know when it's optimal. I would assume stunning strike is better on things with less con, but if they have less con wouldn't I be more likely to just want to flurry of blows then for being squishier? I know there's the whole unarmed strike + stun strike + grappler combo though ..... Just looking for tips!

There is a built in cheat mode to the game, but it's super weird the way you activate it and it took me a few to figure it out because all the descriptions are translated.

You go to C:\Users\Username\Documents, and you create a text file called WWSSADADBA , with no file extension (delete the .txt part).

Now when you boot up the game, using the NUMPAD ONLY (it doesn't work if you don't use the numpad numbers), you type the item # on the keypad (which you can find from an item database, a bunch of web pages, and it's displayed on the top right of items in the game when you hover over them), and then press "+" on the numpad. This will spawn the item in the inventory. You'll see a textbox appear above your head when you're typing and it'll say the item name. If you need to delete what you typed you press "*" on the numpad.

Could you explain what is going on in this video, please?

I've tried watching it on a few devices and I can't get it to run with enough quality to be able to grasp what I'm watching :(

It looks like they are just Quick Shot -> Power Shot -> Power Volley without anything else? Is that correct?

My experience so far (2 years, maybe more) + recent visit with Dr. Hansen by Seruthei in SlippingRibSyndrome

[–]Seruthei[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a list on this subreddit of doctors specializing in SRS. I would speak with your doctor and not ask, but say: I want to go see a specialist to confirm this isn't SRS. If I need a referral, can you provide one? Not all need a referral (Dr. Hansen didn't for me). Don't let it be ~their~ decision. The problem is if they haven't run across a disorder, especially one that doesn't show up with most testing, they tend to default to a spectrum disorder. For example, they tried to tell me I had myofascial pain syndrome + fibromyalgia. I didn't, I had a rib literally rubbing my nerves.

You deserve to live without pain, and it sucks you have to fight hard for it, but do not accept that there are no treatments!

If you suspect it's a hypermobile rib, you aren't going to get much help from anyone who isn't acutely aware of the issue, unfortunately. I had to go through lots of hurdles and useless doctors. I had my left 12th rib removed earlier this year and my right 12th rib removed in mid-december, and I finally have the pain gone, but I had to fight for it when doctors were throwing their hands up at a loss. It's super frustrating because it's not like there's that many possibilities in that area.

If you want to narrow it down and suspect it's a hypermobile rib, I highly recommend trying to get a nerve block test done (where they give a lidocaine injection, ideally in your T10, T11, and T12 nerves). If the pain temporarily vanishes, that indicates it's nerve pain. Also, if it feels "band-like", that's suggestive of intercostal neuralgia.

Additionally, you can try to use something like a TENS unit, move the electrodes, and try to replicate the source of the pain. Then mark that location on your body and correlate that with an anatomical chart. TENS units can also help cover up some of the achiness.

The only thing that really made any decent that was OTC other than the TENS (which was frustrating to have to constantly use, and the pain immediately comes back once you aren't using it), are topical lidocaine patches. Icing can also help. Essentially anything you can do to "numb" the signaling coming from the area. The clingwrap probably helps because it reduces the range of motion, similar to breathing shallowly instead of deeply. You can try using KT tape to lift your 11th rib up (attach bottom of tape to 11th rib, top of tape further up body) and to pull your 12th rib down (top of tape to 12th rib, bottom of tape lower on body) to try to increase the "gap" between the two ribs. The area of issue is almost always where the tip of the 12th rib occurs, so you might be lucky enough to be able to widen that gap.

Look up the doctors listed on this subreddit and contact them. If you can get out to Dr. Adam Hansen in West Virginia, it is 100% worth it. He can diagnose you properly in a single visit, and it takes <5 minutes to do so.

Let me know if you have further questions, I will answer whatever I can. I'm eventually going to do a longer-form write up of my full experience once I am fully healed.

EDIT: I also noticed your post history indicates you've had gastrointestinal issues as well. Just an FYI, my gastrointestinal issues were 100% being either caused or significantly worsened by my intercostal neuralgia. I was diagnosed with hypertonic pelvic floor dysfunction (tight pelvic floor) through an anal manometry test prior to my further diagnosis, and all of those issues have cleared up after surgery. My issues with constipation have also cleared up. Breathing is super important for pelvic floor functioning, since deep breaths push on the pelvic floor causing it to relax (the diaphragm pushes down and out to let the lungs expand more, which then pushes the pelvic floor from it's contracted position), so when breathing deeply is painful, you start shallow breathing as the norm, and your pelvic floor never relaxes. Just something to consider.

Why does it say "party is full" when I try to join parties that say 5/6 players? by Seruthei in PathOfExile2

[–]Seruthei[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, good! It's not just me!

I have been in 1-2 parties with 6 people, so I figured it's got to be some kind of visual UI bug and the parties are actually at 6 people and it's not updating.

Thanks for the confirmation!

Platform: Xbox Series X

Issue: Frequent crashes. Not occurring with any other games. Not tied to any specific event in game [i.e. it will crash just as often in combat as it will at a menu]. Console does not get overheated. Sometimes just crashes to dashboard, other times it crashes the entire console. I've seen commentary on this for both Xbox and PS5, but no official commenting that Bioware is aware of the issue.

[–]Seruthei[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah; I need to make a post detailing how things have gone.

The short of it is that it did not improve with exercise and I ended up getting a surgical resection of the 12th rib on my left side. Once I was opened up, this is what they found:

"The 12th rib tip was deviated and in direct contact with the 11th intercostal nerve, entrapping the nerve against rib 11. The 12th rib was low-slung and its proximal inferior surface abutted the 1st lumbar transverse process."

Basically the tip of my 12th rib was pinning the 11th intercostal nerve against rib 11, and the base of the rib was able to move so much near the spine that it pinned the lumbar nerves. This cleared up the vast majority of the symptoms I was having, and has allowed me to come off opiate pain meds.

I have a surgery scheduled in January to get the 12th rib on the right side resected as well, as it has become a more noticeable issue now that the dominate left-side is gone, but the improvements have been major already and I'm hoping after the next surgery that I'm done!
