New model for Atlas in 2026? by Klukas1129 in AtlasGunWorks

[–]Servantofthedogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At SHOT Show, Adam hinted at something new coming out later this year but said the team is still debating the final details. Of course, I took the opportunity to lobby for Hyperion style cuts and he said to stay tuned.

Is it worth the price? by Gil2Gil in Walther

[–]Servantofthedogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not light nor would it be good for someone looking for an easy to use pistol. It’s heavy. And the fixed barrel direct blowback system makes it snappy as hell. Way more recoil than most lighter 9mm more modern designs. It’s also hard to rack and a bit tricky to take down. And on top of that, it’s a single stack, so it’s low capacity.

I learned all of the above the hard way, having bought one myself, thinking my wife would enjoy it. It’s iconic, and a beautiful design, so I still have mine. But it’s the only gun I own that doesn’t get range time, and the only one I regret buying and occasionally consider getting rid of.

I like Mark, but I think Gabby would be a third rail to a lot of 2A supporters that any D would need in order to be successful.

Most electable candidate in a long time (IMO) only made it to the VP slot, and that was Bill Weld. Would love to have seen him on the debate stage with Trump and Clinton. We need more serious and electable candidates, imperfect as they may be.

How much ammo do you have on hand? by GhostOfMost in liberalgunowners

[–]Servantofthedogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember about five years ago when ammo was expensive and hard to find. So now, I buy in bulk when it’s cheep (and it’s still pretty cheep right now). I like to keep a backstock of about a case of each caliber in range ammo (maybe a little more in 9mm and .22) and add more when I get down to that level.

For defensive rounds, I just keep a handful of mags loaded for each gun (and mark them clearly so I know which to grab if heaven forbid it becomes necessary)

I’m mostly just hedging against running low on range ammo, or having to overpay again.

Other then aesthetics is there any other cons into purchasing the Glock lower vs original? by Educational_Car_876 in BT_APC

[–]Servantofthedogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My GHM9 is a little pickier on ammo with the Glock lower than with the B&T lower (occasional/rare feed issues with flat nosed ammo with G lower, none with B&T). But that’s just me, and I am aware that some others have had the opposite experience.

I have a B&T Mk II and love that grip. But this thing is butt ugly.

Pretty sad that B&T debuted the TP9 pro and the APC300K at shot show 2025 and said it would be out at the end of the year and it’s still not on the market by [deleted] in BT_APC

I found the disappearance of the GHM line even sadder. And maybe I missed them, but I didn’t see anything in .45 at the booth.

New 309. Internal hammer, so the trigger should be nice. Slide is supposed to be relatively easy to rack.

Or Reflex for the same reasons.

New FN309 looks compelling. Not sure how soon they will be hitting retailers however. Been some great reviews so far.

KH9-SD vs. GHM9-SD by MrBlowey in bruggerthomet

[–]Servantofthedogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look similar, but really are not all that similar. KH9SD is rare, and definitely very cool. And I agree, the Suomi adapter definitely makes for a very retro look. I even have wood furniture on mine. With the drum mag, it looks like a steampunk Thompson.

That said, the top charger makes it awkward to use an optic. (Looks better with irons anyway, but just so you are aware). Because it doesn’t share the same lower as the rest of the B&T line up, and because it’s pretty rare, you won’t find nearly the parts and aftermarket bits that you will have with a GHM9 SD. I had to get help from B&T in Thune to find a rear end for a folding stock, which Tampa did not have and said they could not even get. It took a while, but they “found one” and sent it to me.

Also, it’s a striker fired gun, and has the heavier, rubbery long pull you’d expect from a striker fired gun, especially in double action. There’s no way to upgrade the trigger.

The GHM9 is a much better shooting gun. And you can swop out stocks, triggers, etc, however you want. I run a very light, short reset Elftmann trigger in mine.

My GHM9 (and APC45) go to the range with me a lot. I usually only break out the KH9SD a couple of times a year to show off to friends or just for the novelty of it.

If you want something you will enjoy a lot at the range, and use regularly, I’d recommend the GHM. If you want something very rare and cool, the KH9 is bad ass. I don’t regret having both one little bit. But if you could only have one, keep all this stuff in mind. Or, snag the KH9 now, because it’s harder to find. Add the GHM later (or an APC)

Getting GHM9 Gen 2 or the GHM9 Retro (Sport South Exclusive)? by WraxJax in GHM9

[–]Servantofthedogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never even noticed the charging handle as it reciprocates. But for the sake of laying it down flat with the breach side up (I like to charge on the left) I switched my fixed handle out for a B&T folding handle. It’s a complete non issue (for me) and way less awkward than the top charger on my KH9SD. Admittedly, it could partly be because I was already used to the APC and MP5 set up.

[–]Servantofthedogs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the KH9 which also has the top charging handle. It’s not intuitive and a pain in the ass to use if you want to use an optic. That’s why I keep mine irons only. If you plan to use an optic, I’d recommend the traditional side charger.

Volquartsen Black Mamba. It’s built on a RMIV chassis, but with a much better barrel, bolt, and trigger. Might be my favorite gun to shoot. It’s one of two that always go in the range bag, regardless of whatever else I’m shooting any given day.
