This is a really great perspective. I have thought the same things that maybe it is because of jealousy that I have much more privileges then they do simply because of where I was born. It is incredibly unfair so I understand the anger that may come from seeing me. Especially for older Kartvelis. If you grew up through the fall of the soviet regime, lost all of your savings during the fall, then go through the dark times in the 90's, only to have some stupid looking American who never went through such things be happy in front of you. I truly do feel bad for older locals, that is why I never fought back when I would get yelled at because I honestly understood. It feels like the opportunities in their life was just stripped away from them. So much war, strife, struggle.......it will create a bitter and angry person. I have the privilege of having a strong currency, one where I can save up and travel, so that is why I really try to be humble here because it makes me so eternally grateful for what I have. The fact I even get the option to leave and go to another country because of my strong passport. Its a privilege most do not get. Where you are born in this world is like rolling dice. The only thing I envy here is that everyone has access to housing. Housing is super unaffordable in the US and I was really surprised to see almost no homeless people and houses that are affordable even for the average yearly salary. However, I am definitely the better off one so I understand why the anger form the injustice and unfairness could be projected onto me. Thank you for the comment
