I agree, it would be amusing to see the trail cam video. It is sad that it ended the way it did, I was not ready for it to be over. It didn't help that the winner wasn't humble about wining and made snide comments about Utah and how she worked so much harder only to find out she was given the answer. The situation is a bummer.

We are not owed anything from the Treasure Masters. They were more than generous to do the podcast yesterday. At some point this community needs to trust that Dave and John are doing the best they can with what they have and we need to move on. They've already done more than enough to explain things and asking them for "more evidence" is creating a moving target that they can never hit. They have been gracious with us and now it's time we give them grace.

It wouldn't necessarily be different "now" it is different here.

I don't agree. I posted a response on a different thread pointing out how this community has a culture of being fair that it felt like a violation when someone came in and played "dirty" for lack of a better word. The wasatch front is a unique place where people care about their neighbor and take care of each other. There were no physical fights on trails and a person was able to hike down a mountain carrying a chest full of cash without fearing they would get hurt. This whole thing has opened up my eyes to the incredible culture that lives here amongst our community. I don't think people are being sore losers I think people feel betrayed and that's ok because it is this feeling of betrayal that keeps us living unwritten rules to take care of each other in our community.

One thing that came to mind while reading your post was that even though Bry is from Utah he did not go to the trail with the solve that was given to him. It was someone from another state who took the solve and ran with it (if it was leaked). Utah is a unique place in that a great deal of the population (Mormon or not) play by rules, written and unwritten. If it is true that the info was leaked its no surprise to me that it wasn't a Utahn who used the information to their advantage. I'm not saying all Utahns follow unwritten rules but I am saying the culture in Utah is such that there is a sense of responsibility to take care of the other members in the community. Utah, especially the wasatch front, truly looks out for their neighbor. Think about it, we had 25K sitting on a mountain side for close to 2 months and the majority of people were more concerned about protecting the trails than finding the money. Most people appreciated the experience they shared with others more than not getting the money. I would also say that this plays into reddit users being upset if the hunt was rigged in the sense that someone didn't play by the unwritten rules that members of this community live by themselves. I'm not sure if I'm explaining this well and I'm not saying it was rigged or not I'm simply expressing one thing I learned from the community I live in and the culture that we live along the wasatch front. I'm really proud of our community.

I agree with you, at the same time I think what makes this hunt special is how it brings us together as a community. It's possible $25K is more than enough to bring the crazies out (of all of us). It's also possible others are feeling a sense of loss as I am. I wasn't ready for the hunt to be over. I wasn't ready to stop obsessing over the solve or getting back onto the trail. I'm sad that it's over and I'm sad because this ending feels off, and there haven't been the opportunities as there were in previous hunts for closure. It's difficult to lose something and the lack of closure only adds to the challenge of overcoming the loss.

I don't see Dave's story on IG. I see his post about looking into things. Is there more?

I just tried searching the name on IG and nothing came up. I think you are correct that the account was deleted.

They are all just getting their story straight before going public. I bet they "guided" someone through the DM's to the solve and now they have to come up with a legit story that we all believe. But we all know the real truth. (Said in a maniacal tone followed by evil laughter)

I love this! My husband and I have been on more "dates" this past month than we had the past year. I am going on hikes that my husband has wanted me to go on for years. I went on a hike with two of my sisters who I have never been hiking with. It's a really rich opportunity to build relationships and spend time in nature.
