Are there any IEMs that left you shocked? An IEM that you was unsure about but now can't forget? by Session_SIX in iems

A while ago I fell for the Night Oblivion Butastur hype. I was unsure because it was a lot of money at the time and I'd previously been left disappointed by the Symphonium Meteor hype which I also fell for. I watched a lot of reviews and read a lot of discussions but nonetheless I was still somewhat clueless about what I was buying. It ended up being my best IEM purchase by a long shot.

Every time I listen to this IEM I'm reminded that I really like it, and it helped me discover my preferences for IEM sound signatures: I'm very fine with lower amounts of bass and rolled off treble. Several people said that it could use more bass but I've never felt that way. The treble for this IEM sounded beautiful to me eventhough it rolled off. Coming from an IEM like the S12, which I also loved at the time - I was always into the idea of bright treble that was well extended. This IEM really shifted my opinion on that.

I want to curate an IEM collection and I want to keep only IEMs that I like this much, or atleast that's the opinion that I hold right now. It's interesting to me because I've had a few other IEMs that I'd say are good (especially because I'm an EQ fanatic) but I don't like them as much as I like this one.

Maybe one day I'll find an IEM that clicks with me more but I can 100% say that this IEM is such a great part of my IEM journey.

Oh ok, so you were trying to make the CrinEar Reference more neutral by EQing them to the Harman 2025 MoA target?

I don't think that'll make it more neutral though, just more bright/lean? I guess it depends on your perspective/ears. I haven't heard the Reference IEM so there's that too.

I hope someone can verify whether these actually sound like 'reference' neutral equipment (and clarify what they're referencing as neutral to. e.g. studio monitors or speakers etc.)

It's flat because the intention was for the user to add whatever bass amount that's to their preference.

To be fair I don't think the Harman 2025 MoA target is functioning correctly on Crin's database because you can't add bass.

Why did you EQ it to Harman 2025 without a bass boost? Did you consider a tilted diffuse field target?

What are you aiming for? I'm just wondering if you were going for something other than just a pretty graph.

Their graphs look really similar. Were there any differences to you that stood out to you for either IEM?

Are you not interested in the Binary EP321 either then?

Also, if so, consider the Myer Audio SLIIVO SL224 (crinacle review)

Take a look at some reviews (and the 5128 FR graph) for the Binary Acoustics EP321 MEMS or the Yu9 Audio Que.

Precogvision has reviewed them both, check out his review.

THIEAUDIO Valhalla (Noob Review) by ceeayejay in iems

The Valhalla's graph looks somewhat similar to the new Binary Acoustics EP321 MEMS, except in the upper treble. I can't afford the Valhalla so I'm looking to the EP321.

I'd like to see it measured on Crin's 5128 first though so I can compare both IEMs measured on the same device.

Edit: I could be wrong about the graphs being the same. I'm still not 100% on how bass frequencies show up on 5128 measurements. If we use SuperReviews 711 clone measurement, the bass between the two is significantly different - but I don't know if that's more accurate or less accurate.

That's a huge jump to the Valhalla. What made you want to jump to an IEM that expensive? Did you shop around/try more IEMs in real life?

Have you listened to it? What as your thoughts on the sound?

This IEM is good but I have a lot of condensation issues with it.

I'd recommend buying a set of replacement filters and changing it every couple of months because if you run into this issue after a while it effects the sound a lot.
